Rightfully so I might add.
Naw, not amusing. That just means we have put the wrong guy behind center two years in a row.

And who could we have gotten reasonably. There is a very good QB class coming out next year. Neither QB was destined to be our future just a place holder as we rebuild.

Good. Hopefully, we'll see improvement in the situational O playcalling to protect Beck a bit until he settles in.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

With all do respect, does it really matter who our QB is this year? Yes, rex was awful and single handedly lost the philly game for is. Im glad beck will start, simply to give me more
Of an optimistic outlook for the rest of the season. But if anybody doesnt realize rex or beck were nothing more than a stop gap then you arent paying attention. We passed QB after QB up last year due to all mediocrity. This season is the, "Year of the QB" shanny saw this coming and will draft our future with building blocks behind him. If Beck can win us 50% of our games thats fine with me! #thefuture. HAIL!!!!!!!

It does matter because continuing with Rex would cause the team as a whole to decline. If Beck plays better then we at least keep the team intact (continuity) until we get the "future QB" on the field.

Everyone here knows what we had with Rex going in and we also recognize that Beck may fall flat. But, Beck may also emerge. Altho rare, it would not be the first time a guy like Beck surprises.

To the guy who Rex BEAT OUT to win the job against? I remember that last preseason game with Beck where he threw into traffic and made some very bad decisions.

Good point. That SO would have happened if that turd nugget was still running the FO (or letting Danny pull his strings).

Some people don't stand for anything but, yet they beat others up for doing so [sigh].

Good move, I think Beck will have a few bumps on the road, but will be better overall.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

There was no other choice. He turned over the ball 2.3 times for the past eight games. He is what he has always been - the year he went to the Superbowl, he had 20 INTs and lost five fumbles. In the last seven games of that season, he turned the ball over eighteen times. The Chicago Bears got where they were that year because of their D; they got there because the D that allowed less than 100 yards per game showed up EVERY game (unlike ours), and could overcome Rex's turnovers.

We are very lucky we are not 1-4 instead of 3-2 because of his mistakes. He needed to be sat in the corner ever since the Dallas game when it was apparent to everyone in the world watching MNF that he was STILL the same Rex whose two INTs and two fumbles constantly shifted momentum back to the Colts in Superbowl XLI - who eventually took over that game and almost blew the Bears out in the 4th.

Shanny made the right move and told him to take a nap.

If Beck can just keep from turning the ball over and is slightly better than Rex, I am of the mind that it will have a measurable impact on how our O performs. He doesn't need to be great, just a little bit better than Rex and not as prone to boneheaded turnovers.

We'll see. He looked better in the pocket and under pressure than Rex.

The sky isn't falling, yet...

Yeah people talk about how he went to a SuperBowl... Remember how Lovie Smith had to reiterate just about every damn week that "Rex is our Quarterback" to the media? That's called winning in spite of someone, not because of them.

I don't think Rex is terrible overall as an NFL QB, but at this point I don't think he's starting material either. He's where he needs to be, now. Holding a clipboard. Hey, it could be worse. He can spend the next 5 or 6 years chilling on an NFL sideline making in the neighborhood of $1M/season.
