Re: Thoughts on Ramsey and Brunell...
I have been a huge Ramsey fan since the Ole Ball Coach drafted him. I think he has the smart and definately the arm to succeed in the NFL. He has never gotten a fair shake on trying to grab the starting position. The changing QBs every 3 games w/ spurriers first year was a joke, then the 2nd year Ramsey showed true promise. Until team blitz his head and spurrier would not adjust WR routes to hot routes when teams blitzed. Plus Ramsey is a tough kid. He took more beatings than any QB I have seen in a long time. Regarding the QB situation, Ramsey will be gone after this season. He either gets traded to Baltimore or the Jets, maybe Cleveland or Detroit. There are many teams out there that believe Ramsey can play. We can not have two first round picks sitting on the bench, that would be a complete waiste. I also believe it was a big waste on signing Brunell. I think he has played remarkably well this year, but if you are not going to playoffs, what difference does it make if you go 8-8, or 0-16, you dont make it either way. I believe if we lose a game or two from here on out, I think you have to take your pick of who is going to be your QB, Ramsey or Campbell which I think Joe thinks its going to be Campbell. Brunell is getting paid 40 some million dollars, and its a joke. This is just one of the moves I think was made in haist, and if we had some people that would tell Joe that maybe this guy isnt' right for us we may not have gone after him. We could have gotten Garcia for alot less, who his more athletic and younger that Brunell. Its always alot what if and shoulda woulda coulda crap, every year. We will just have to wait and see what happens, I am sure it will be something everyone of us will be talking about.

Re: Thoughts on Ramsey and Brunell...
I tend to agree with NFLeurope, I don't see us dealing Patrick away unless it's a great offer.
Gibbs places great value on QB depth, always has and always will. Gibbs knows that Ramsey did a solid job at the end of last year and based on that, he gave him the starting job. It wasn't Gibbs' fault that PR did nothing during the offseason and preseason to show that he had solidified himself as the unquestioned starter. Patrick left the door cracked open, and the injury against the Bears was the convenient excuse to make the switch. Sure Patrick scoffed initially, but since then he's played the good soldier routine to a T. Deep down he has to know he wasn't ready to lead the offense the way Brunell has. Hopefully he's learned some valuable lessons this year and will be ready to step up his game when called upon again. He still has a year left on his deal, I don't see us trading him for anything less than a 2nd rounder or a package deal for a top flight DE. |

He was given a fair evaluation period, he had the entire offseason and preseason to show that he should be the unquestioned starter, and in the coaches eyes he simply did not do that. If Ramsey had done an outstanding job during that time and left no doubt in the coaches mind that he was the man for the job, he wouldn't have received the quick hook. |

Re: Thoughts on Ramsey and Brunell...
Regardless of how good or bad Patrick Ramsey may or may not be, he has to go. Can anyone imagine him playing with any confidence knowing that the coaching staff will be so critical of his every move? Can you imagine the look on Gibbs' face when Ramsey would throw his first interception? Brunell is one of the 5 best quarterbacks in the league, and for certain Campbell is ready, willing and able to step in and take over when called upon. Given Ramsey's performance thus far, he would have been "cut" had be been playing any other position. For certain, Ramsey should be cut or traded following this season. This team needs to get on with business and Ramsey is not part of the equation.

Re: Thoughts on Ramsey and Brunell...
If Ramsey was given the chance to play more games this year everyone would be pissed that Ramsey was still in and Campbell was not playing. Our record would be much worse and we would still be thinking Brunell was all washed up.

Re: Thoughts on Ramsey and Brunell...
The Brunell bashing and blind Ramsey supporting really is getting old, especially since Brunell has played very well this year and has proved that last year was nothing but a fluke.
