Re: Ryan Clark

exactly. which is why i wish him well. thats what we do know is that he doesnt want to back someone up. i dont think the money is important to him according to what hes said in the past.

even though now hes all like "i want to make sure my family is taken care of" oh well. liked him while he was here.

Re: Ryan Clark

While everyone seems confident that Sean Taylor will be just fine with this looming legal battle, I'm still a little nervous.

If he's wearing bright orange in '06, I'd sure rather have Archuletta and Clark as opposed to Archuletta and ?

But then again, if Clark thinks he's worth a huge contract now, and there's a team out there who's willing to spend that and give him a free pass to a starting position, then more power to him.

Re: Ryan Clark

clark WAS a liability in coverage and against big running backs (getting bowled over). arch is also a liability in coverage.

they offered clark a contract, they obviously think he's a good guy to have, BUT if you don't have a 5-7 year deal, you might not be a core redskin

the team would like him back, but they can't offer him the starting role, so he's going to look elsewhere.

Re: Ryan Clark

I would rather have Stoutmire than Clark. I know that Clark did his job well last year but you guys are forgetting that having someone like Taylor is going to make Clark better.

Give Archuletta a chance. They are building one of the best secondaries in the league.

I don't want to hear from all of the diehard Clark fans when Archuletta is lighting people up and running back TDs.

Don't forget Clark had a clear shot on LT and was humiliated. Do you think the Grim Reaper or Archuletta would have been run over? Don't think so.

Re: Ryan Clark

Maybe we think of Clark as a tweener CB/Saftey? Maybe he is our 3rd CB option.

Yes!! play him at nickel
I'm sure GW has evaluated his man/man cover skills enough to know if he's up to it

Re: Ryan Clark

I would love to have Clark back at the right price and in the right place. BUT - He seems to want to be a starter and feels he earned some love from the team. B/c he worked hard and really bought into the team concept, I can see how he may feel betrayed.

But, just b/c I think I understand his feelings of betrayal, doesn't mean I agree with them.

The term "core Redskins" apparently gets thrown around a lot by Gibbs. He probably uses it to talk about putting team first, etc. Fair enough.

What I bet is included in the description but what Clark and some others may not hear is that the Skins will always try to improve themselves and that, when a player who can help comes along, we will make the effort to get him. In those cases, we won't throw "core 'Skins" to the curb BUT we aren't going to pass up the opportunity to improve and, even for "core Skins", we are not going to pay you more than we believe your worth. We will make a fair offer (a la' Smoot, Pierce) - but we have a plan. We would like to include you in it but not necessarily at the price your asking.

I doubt Clark can get big bucks from anyone, maybe moderate ones along with a starter's role somewhere. If so, then he has his own choices to make. I like him, I hope he stays, but he is not someone for whom we should break the bank.

Bottom line, he is probably overvaluing himself as a player and as a component on the Skins.
