Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
whoever started this thread needs to be examined...there is no hesitation in betts whatsoever. he knows where he is going when he gets the ball. Portis is good now dont get me wrong but he hesitates to much. i think Betts is the man for the job. I say trade portis for a draft pick.

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
Three things that I saw which cost use the win.1) Betts fumble did cost us the game in the long run but it was not the only reason we lost and it should not all be hung on him. 2) After our TD drive in the beging of the 3rd Qtr. our O struggled to stay on the field and gave the ball back after quick series. 3) Our D was winded in the second half and never had a break in the 2nd half and by the end of the game almost gave 600 yards. My point is that we could blame just about any unit for the loss not just one player who Yes, ultimately made the final mistake that cost us the win.

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
You want to dump CP because he "hesitates too much"? I'm not even sure how you can substantiate an argument like that, so I'll just go with my gut and say, no, he doesn't hesitate too much.
He rushed for over 1500 yards in 3 of his first 4 seasons. He finds the end zone. He's friggin fast. He doesn't fumble. He is the best blocking back in the league. He is unselfish. He is a consummate team player. He's hands down the best back on the team. We are in a great position with CP taking 15-20 carries and Betts getting 10-15 a game as the default strategy. Betts is proving to be a very good runner, so I'm sure, if he gets the hot hand in a particular game, he'll see more carries. |

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
I didn't even bother addressing the "I'm tired of excuses" argument, because that person obviously hasn't watched a single set of downs when we've been on defense this season.
All we've GOTTEN from the D this year are excuses. |

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
I guess we'll probably be talking about this all offseason. Portis isn't going anywhere.
Betts has had a great year no doubt, in fact I'm really puzzled as to why he didn't want to test the market. With the tear he's on he could have easily locked down a bigger contract and a starting job next year. If anyone really doubts that he is starting material you really need to have your head checked. Guys that have done far less have locked down starting jobs in free agency. As great of a year that Betts has had, Portis is still the unquestioned starter. We have a great situation now with our backfield. Let's enjoy it and stop this nonsense about getting rid of Portis. In this day and age you need 2 quality backs. |

It could just be, of course, that he wants to play here, for Gibbs, and probably retire as a Redskin. He wouldn't be the first or last guy to factor those things into his decision to turn down higher-paying offers to stay on his current job. |

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
it is very unusual that someone really wants to stay here. but maybe its the start of good things to come

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
I"m sure his agent, to the extent possible, put out some feelers before Betts resigned with the Skins.

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
u can thank the defense for the loss against st louis. leading 28 -14 that should have been enough. PERIOD. Had the d done their job we never would have been here talking about a betts fumble.

Re: Portis over Betts no brainer
I agree, at 28-14 it should have been over. They gave up 579 yards of offense... that is a complete disgrace.
