Thanks for the links.
The one thing I noticed above all is that there is no comment from Mathis. If someone accused me of choking her, I'd make a comment. Why is there none? I'd like to hear his side of the story. It definitely doesn't look good.

About the dogs, it just sounds like he was not paying enough attention to them. That could happen to anyone that has outdoor dogs. I don't agree with having outdoor dogs, so I have 2 indoor dogs, but to each his own. It's hard for me to call that a run in with the law since it's a citation. A speeding ticket is a citation too.

I'm giving the Skins FO the benefit of the doubt on this one. Hoping when they interviewed him he explained what happened and they were satifsfied with his response. The skins know that if he gets into trouble or is a bad locker room guy then they loose a lot of credibility with the fans and the NFL. It's a risk, but apparently it's one the skins felt was worth taking.

ProFootballTalk.com - REDSKINS GO TURD COLLECTING

According to PFT I was on the right track with the release of the Mathis signing being on FRI night so as to have it go unnoticed.

I don't think it matters that much anyway because he will more than likely not make it past training camp due to his injury riddled past.

What happens though if he gets injured? Doesn't the league prevent teams from releasing injured players, (for example Shaun Alexander).

I believe with contracts like these they are contingent upon him making the final roster. Whatever signing bonus agreed upon would be his to keep, more than likely a small amount, and we could cut him with no ill effect on the cap.

The deal more than likely is bottom rate since he was out basically the last two years with injuries. He'll be lucky to make it out of camp healthy. Complete speculation on my part of course.

A good pick up if you ask me. His maturity issues dont bother me. In fact maturity issues have never bothered me.

You have to ask yourselves one thing: Is this guy going to help us win games or not?
I believe the best people to make that call are the guys in charge, and im not talking about danny.

Guy was never charged for anything with his girlfriend, so that should be done with. He also punched a Teammate, ok, wow, big deal. We are talking about football players, not school teachers.

Anyone think this spells the end for Thrash? I think it might. One of Thrash's pluses is that he can return some kicks. And Gibbs was always the one who loved Thrash so much - makes me wonder if Vinny feels the same way.

Now I don't know if Mathis can cover on teams as well as Thrash could, so that's a question mark. But if he can, I can definitely see Thrash being expendable.

I don't think this is the end for thrash, hes inexpensive, can cover on special teams, and hes durable. Those three things are I think good reasons to keep him.

Mathis is not a big dude 5'11 191, and injured a ton last season, only played 5 games. I'm not sure even if we kept him that he would be tackling anyone on special teams.

I don't see him making the final roster. Wonder why Cartwright hasn't
worked with Brian Mitchell on learning to field punts. If he did it would
only increase his value.

Strange move, but he just may be a warm body for now.

"Could it be that the vague rumors of Ladell Betts being on the block are true?

If Betts were traded, and Rock was shifted to Clinton Portis' primary backup, then I could see the need for a new kick returner.

To me, it has to be either that, or, that the Redskins clearly just want someone to push Rock Cartwright to improve even more.

Stay tuned..."

I agree with this. He can be an asset if we use him as one. We could have done alot worse and although Rock does well at KRing, he could always be pushed more and we really dont have an explosive PR. Mathis could serve as that. I like him #4 in the slot on a fade man to man against a dimeback too...

This is wishfull thinking....
This guy is a punt returner...and rock doesnt return punts.
There is really no sense in this other than a potential speed demon to back up Moss.

It does suggest that Randel El can be protected by staying on offense too.
Both have had injury problems.

If they are worried about 2 deep depth for little WR's ....odds are, they are going to want to be 2 deep at big WR's....Mix would be a decent depth guy.

I dont believe it would be wise to trade Betts...he is far better than Rock could ever be....Free agency proved that this is not a unique opinion.

Regarding him being a scumbag....I really dont like that either.

Just because Mitchell said that on air doesn't mean he extended a formal invitation for Rock to receive his services, unless he has and I've missed that.

Do we know that Rock knows? Has B. Mitch contacted the organization, or was it just a clip from a show? Did Rock feel he was serious? Does Rock WANT his help. We may never know, it's kind of early right now anyways, could still happen.

Re: Jerome Mathis signed

I hope this is just a move to bring in some competition at the WR & PR positions, and he doesn't make the final roster.

Re: Jerome Mathis signed

Sketchy pickup. I don't like it mainly due to his issues off the field. The guy sounds like a real loser.
