Re: Why Stopping the Read-Option Isn't as Easy as You Think
I think the real tell will be the line on the game. Anything less than Skins by 8 would be shocking to me.

Robert inspires his team mates, you can't tell me that as pumped up as he will be Sept 9the to play the Eagles on Monday night football, that his team mates won't be just as pumped up to play with him and for him? Who said Shock and Awe? I agree.

One day I hope the media realizes this and starts comparing him to every QB not just the guys who share his skin color. Screw the talking heads they will be eating crow when next years rankings come out and they have to rank this guy up with the best and above all of the other rookies and second year guys they ranked ahead of him this year. "Shock and Awe" will cometh week one when he gets re-unleashed on the league and we get to move on from the knee talk and back to how great he is in the NFL.

Re: Why Stopping the Read-Option Isn't as Easy as You Think
The only part I disagreed with was when you compared him to Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is a slightly better passer, but in terms of atleticism, RG3 is miles ahead. Sure, Rodgers can run, but he's not in the same class as RG3. A 4.41 40 yard time, 76 yard TD run, and 600 yards rushing are things Rodgers could never accomplish. RG3 was recruited to play safety at Texas, participated at the Olympic trials, and dunked in the 8th grade, when he was 5'6". RG3 has a 39" verical; Rodgers' is 34". What more can be said?

Yeah I agree comparing him to the likes of Vick is just lazy. He's light years ahead of where Vick was as a passer coming out of college.

Re: Why Stopping the Read-Option Isn't as Easy as You Think
The most accurate comparison for RGIII is Young. There seems to be an unspoken rule in and around the NFL that black players can only be compared to black players and white to white. It's silly but it's what happens.

Re: Why Stopping the Read-Option Isn't as Easy as You Think
I actually think the game that is most revealing of potentially how to stop the read option was not the Rams game, which was full of cheap shots that most officiating will prevent or punish, but rather the Bengals game. I thought there was a bunch of legal hits to RGIII in that game, that they decided that they'd hit him if given the chance, and that it wore down on us a bit over the course of the game (which we lost).
