I wouldn't say they're over, but I'd say we're definitely now playing for a wild car, lucky shot at the playoffs versus actually playing to control our destiny or win a division.

Close to dead but we still have a pluse.. We would have had to win the final three divison games regardless of what has happen the last two weeks. So if loose to Sando and beat ST.L and ARZ we could still finish 10-6. Im not saying its likely but we can still decide our own destiny.

Re: Playoff Hopes Dead?

we'll go 8-8, maybe 9-7 at best, and miss the playoffs - something I've maintained since the loss to the Giants. We lose next week, beat the Cards and Rams, and win one of two against the Giants and Eagles.

We will have like the 10th or 11th pick in the draft which Denver will use on a quality player.

On the bright side, perhaps no GMs or owners will come knocking for G. Williams as a head coaching candidate. Can't blame Williams for our stinking D this year - we have way too many deficiencies. Gibbs and Williams will still be here next year and take us to the playoffs.

Didn't think about that, great point. I don't blame Williams either. While it does seem at times that opponents have figured out his blitz packages, I really think the players he's dealing with are starting to play down to reality.

I think we're out of the playoffs. If we can't beat Oakland in OUR house....what hope is there for the teams ahead of us?

Our playoff hopes arent completley flushed down the toilet, but they are swirling around pretty fast.

First of all, let's kill all of this rubbish that Brunell sucks...I won't even entertain that other thread. He's not responsible for dropped passes and poor pass protection. In fact, on a couple of drives he ran for first downs - twice!

Secondly, we'll have to flat out win every single game from here on out to have a shot. Can it happen? - sure. It will be a long shot, however.

So glad we have LaVar...and I hope he's a Skin next year!!!

Skins will need to run the table now to make the playoffs, they'll have to take 5 of 6 at least. I doubt that's possible especially now with the injuries starting to pile up.

You got it Matty, anything less than 5 of 6 wont get the job done.

I think it's doable, Matty. If we can get pass San Diego - it's very doable, IMO.

Nah, we're a .500 ballclub that will have to rebuild next year. All of these rebuilding years seem to lead to nothing but more rebuilding.

I beg to differ...I think we're more like an 11-5 - 10-6 ballclub with a few correctable deficiencies. I know it's late in the year to start talking about "correctables", but we'll see how this thing plays out.

I hope you're right. But, we're a team with a very old coaching staff and a QB on his last hoorah. I say we give this group one more season then start an across-the-board youth movement. We all know it's something we need to do. Otherwise, we'll have another 10 years of less-than-average football in the D.C. area.

I agree the staff could use some tweaking. But we have a lot of youth on the ballclub. I don't think any wholesale changes are warranted.

Consider the following are really young:

S.Moss
Cooley
Portis
Rabach
Marshall
Taylor
C.Rogers
Lavar (what 27ish)

I think we can mix some younger guys in with this group. But I hear what you're saying - one more and no more!!

How will this team be able to start a youth movement with no draft picks? This team has traded something like 15 picks in the last 3 years and next years 1st round pick belongs to denver. What we are seeing with this team is the result of mismanagement over the past 5 or 6 years and it wil not be changed until the management gets its head on straight. Unfortunately I see another 10 years of less than average football for this team. Its a shame.
