Re: Any update on Campbell?

All of this Brunell bashing is really funny. If you remove the ludicracy that has Michael Vick going to the Pro Bowl this year, I say we have a Pro Bowl QB on our team right now in Brunell. He is not Peyton Manning, but Peyton's team did not go any further than the Skins did this year. With another option at Receiver next year and another year of confidence by this team, Brunell could be a 25+ TD QB next year. His ability to manage the game is the intangible that helped the Skins get as far as they did. I know the Tampa Playoff game was ugly, but it just proved how bad we need a 3rd option in the pass pattern.

I agree. The only question I have is.....how much does Brunall have left in the tank? It seems like the season caught up to him real fast towards the end.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

I think we need to upgrade at WR2 or WR3. I don't think Brunell leads us to a SB but after all the discussion around here and thinking about it I don't think we make any type of move at the position for next year. Who the heck would we get who is any better than Brunell anyways? Campbell is the long term answer and I am swayed to think he needs to get his shot as the 2 next year. I had been a reluctant advocate on keeping Ramsey and letting Campbell percolate as the 3 again but we need to upgrade the position long terma dn the longer we wait to get Campbell real experience the longer we have to endure having a ceiling on our passing game. I don't think Ramsey stays anyways so I am just going to get used to the idea of Brunell/Campbell/Schmoe as our QBs next year.

Schmoe is actually a pretty good prospect... he wears #0 right?

Re: Any update on Campbell?

In addition I hope we can get some mop up time for Campbell next year early on. I'd like to see him take the starting job by the reigns as soon as possible if he is a capable as we all think.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

From what I've heard so far another WR will be a top priority this offseason.

I just can't see us standing pat with the guys we have after how obvious it was this year that Moss was our only viable target at WR.

To me it comes down to depth. This year at the very least showed beyond Patten and Moss we had no one. We need at least one more decent option there just in case we lose one of the top two. We can't roll the dice on two small guys who could get plunked at any time be done for a significant amount of time. A guy like Randle El, a name bantered around these parts, would fit perfect. Not a got to number one but definitely a guy we could count on to be a solid 2 or 3. Plus he bring some other stuff to the table. He is the best fit option in my mind. Some have done good work in convincing me on Robinson too for the right price. If he understands his roll as the possesion/red zone guy and can keep on the straight and narrow.

Any legitamate possibilities in the draft? I think we have to find a gem in the second round hopefully.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

Jacobs has had his opportunities to prove himself, but he hasn't proved anything but that he's fragile and has no heart.

You can tell by his body language that he's soft. He plays two games and then he's hurt. It doesn't matter who's throwing the ball to him......

Re: Any update on Campbell?

You know, the addition of another TRUE recieving threat is a TOP priority for Joe, and company. It is obviously the easiest thing to fix having the greatest impact to the Offense and the success of the team as a whole. Joe has proved once again, "he is the master". I doubt the reciever thing has eluded him.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

It's funny how it seemed like Brunell's numbers went down when Patten went out. Maybe it's just me, but ya think that could've had something to do with Brunell not having a complete PRO BOWL year? As beat up and banged as we were when we got into the playoffs, it's a wonder the offense could score anything. At least we can take great comfort in knowing that we scored more in the playoffs than the Giants! LOL!!!

Re: Any update on Campbell?

Brunell was good this year...this thread is basically doing what the national media did with the Redksins offense. They had a couple below average performances in the playoffs and everyone forgot that the offense did improve alot this year. Brunell is more than adequate until Gibbs decides that Campbell is ready to take over.

In the playoffs nobody got the job done, from the offensive line to our running game, but as always Brunell is the convenient scapegoat.

Yawn.

Great point RedskinsPete.

If you look back when Thomas was healthy our running game was great. Once he went down........Portis' numbers went down.
