Re: Thoughts on Potential Draft Trade With Cleveland!!!
I would love to have CJ, but at that cost...not sure. I dont think we can afford to give up betts with the history of Portis so far. I dont think he has ever played a full season. Betts and Portis forming a pretty good tandem outweighs the option of not having betts. who is going to back up Portis? I would love to have CJ, they need to think of another deal.
if this is done, we then have to find a backup RB and we address nothing on D at all. |

Re: Thoughts on Potential Draft Trade With Cleveland!!!
wow the redskins realy know how to back stab a player. I cant believe they made Leddel Betts sign for millions less and now they want to trade him. Great message to send the players. Wait till Cooley is asked to take less, to be a Redskin.

Re: Thoughts on Potential Draft Trade With Cleveland!!!
if this were to happen draft day, who might they target @rb in the draft or free agency? Antonio Pittman, Tony Hunt, Darrius Walker, Kevin Barlow, Corey Dillon, or somebody. I don't know where any of the rbs other than Bush and Peterson r being projected and I don't like the idea of shipping off Betts, but if Johnson were to be aquired it has the potential to be Monk/Clark/Sanders version 2 with the tandem of CJ/Moss/ARE. The Betts part is just hard cuz even though rbs r proven to be somewhat one of the easiest positions to replace, Betts and his work ethic and willingness to take less money to be here make him the type of player this team needs to keep within the fold. I'm sure his price would have been a bit different if he had waited to resign after the spending spree of the offseason, but u never know.

It sounds like a good deal for the 'Skins but, when was the last time a deal worked in our favor?

I thought the Coles-Moss swap was a pretty good deal for us.

Re: Thoughts on Potential Draft Trade With Cleveland!!!
it'd be a good deal for us. i'm not sure ignoring the DL for ANOTHER WR is really the way to go, but at least he's a clear and present upgrade over anyone we've got from #2 on down.
betts is a backup RB. we caan use our 5th on wolfe, and move rock to #2 or pick up a scrub there (betts is 30 and the only leverage we have beyond that #6 pick). sitting at 6 (or dropping a couple spots) and taking okoye et al would probably be better, but johnson + an early 3rd rounder would be much more useful than that briggs trade in the long run. |

Re: Thoughts on Potential Draft Trade With Cleveland!!!
GTripp, I'm not gonna quote your whole post b/c it's wicked long, but dead on. You and I see 100% eye to eye on this issue. If there is one thing the Skins FO should have learned by now with all the bad moves we've made, it's IGNORE THE HYPE. Bread and butter baby. Run the ball, stop the run. STOP THE RUN. Calvin Johnson may well end up putting up Randy Moss type numbers. But he's just as easily a bust. Just ask the Lions how well drafting a WR prospect with gaudy combine numbers worked out for them. D-line is where we need help. Address the need. Address the need.
