Then there's the turnovers issue, but frankly, I'm just tired of talking about that. We're not an elite defense, and no one thinks we are, and the turnovers will come along with the increased sacks we've seen. Hopefully.

We're 6th overall in total yards per play, and 6th overall in points per game. Of course, not all yards are created equal, and points in the aggregate tell you nothing, so with a grain of salt, we've done pretty well on defense.

Let's see where we rank after the final six opponents. It will be a nice challenge.

Re: Still Encouraged; Still Love My Skins: Bright Spots

One final note on the defense:

Our big defensive weakness, far more than anything else, is defending the other team's tight end. But as deadly a force as the TE can be against the Redskins, it's not like they ever break it for a ton of yards or points without help from the outside or the running game. So while it's a clear weakness that is really obvious against the pass, it's not a weakness that's ever going to show up in the conventional stats.

Which may mean that defending TEs is overrated. I'm open to all ideas with this, because I can't think of an instance where this has bit us in the balls and decided the game. It may just be a trivial fact: that the Redskins can't cover any tight ends, if they happen to go out to receive a pass.

Fire Vinny Cerrato and all will be right with the Redskins

Troy Aikmen & Phil Simms both say that JC could be better if he had more time to throw the ball.

Of course, I'm not serious... Or am I? Yes, it didn't take long for Brett Favre and Sidney Rice to develop chemistry.. Nor for Peyton Manning and with the rookie receivers.. Nor for some other players.. But the fact is Campbell is not those QBs, and our receivers are not those other receivers.. Everyone plays different in their own ways..

Just like Matty said, I also would love to see what Campbell can do with good protection.. The fact remains that we do not have luxury to revamp everything on offense, except for receivers part.. We can't afford to draft a QB next off-season; Campbell will be there for us to use, so we can spend drafts on O-line men and a RB.. If Campbell doesn't work out next year with the protection we can give him, then you can count me in bandwagon to run Campbell out from Redskins..

I like what I've seen in recent weeks from Davis, Thomas and Kelly. I am looking forward to seeing what Thomas and Kelly on the outside with Moss in the slot.

Thought this thread was worthy of bumping, since there's nothing new to say. Minus DHall being out, I think the same playes turned in another solid performance.

I really like what we're beginnining to see out of Davis, Thomas, and Kelly. Fred Davis in particular, whom DRave is a big fan of, will team up very well with Cooley next season. He's pretty nimble on his feet for a big guy.

All three draft choices from last year looked great. Thomas, Kelly and Davis.

This gives Redskins FO another reason to keep Campbell, he's starting to develop rapport with the 3 guys.. We would disrupt good thing going on between those guys, especially when they would have time together during off the season.. Also, whoever will be the offense coordinator next year, he better figure out how to utilize Cooley and Davis together on the field at same time..
