Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Considering his defenses haven't been good while he was there, why would you think he's a good DC at this point in his career.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
His overall record is 89-87 not bad imo.

Lovie didn't earn that firing...Team had improved. Bucs must have someone in mind to hire right now.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
If the bucs are smart they should hire Coughlin who lives in Florida.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Sure, if they want an over-the-hiil, worn out old guy. It would be easier and much cheaper to just grab some old guy off the street in Tampa. There are plenty of other old guys who were forced to retire in Florida.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Remember Marv Levy? He didn't win 2 SB like Coughlin and had success in his 70's.

As a retired old guy, I've learned that most of us are done before we realize we're done and it comes at a different age for each of us. I think Coughlin is done but he doesn't realize it yet. He'll be pissed at Mara until, one day, he'll realize that Mara was right.

NFL Stats: by Team Category This regular season defensively we were 17th best in pts/game. 28th best in yds/game. Better than it looks on the field, but not terrible. Still seemed to me like we got shredded anytime we played a good offense. Lovie Smith's track record really hasn't been as good the past several years as I thought it was, but we really could use a better defense. I think we need a better defensive coordinator, like a Wade Phillips or Rex Ryan. I understand we will have to go with someone who isn't established, who can develop into a Wade Philips. I just don't think Joe Barry is our guy. |

He would be a great fit in NY or Philly for us, as he would lead them into years if mediocrity.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
jon spent a lot of time falling in love with bad qbs. philly taking him wouldn't necessarily be a bad hire for skins fans. he's been on the bench a while, though he's been active, so i doubt he'd be rusty.
