Re: Around the NFL Week 1

Dallas played better than I expected, but losing LVE to IR and their TE to an ACL hurts on both sides of the ball.

I listened...my tv crapped out last night. Vizio screen freeze and now blacked out...sound, cable working, no picture. Fcuking sux

I read Aldon Smith played well, but overall 17 points at home with that offense. I expect a lil more

Not sure how much home / away will matter this season but Dallas was the visiting team. TV crew couldnt stop gushing about LA's new stadium.

Re: Around the NFL Week 1

What's with all of the sudden number changes in our secondary? Collins, Moreau, Moreland...I feel bad for all of the people who bought Landon's jersey.

The Bucs' secondary also had 5 out of 7 players change numbers too.

I heard the announcer at our game say Redskins once. The Bucs-Saints announcer said it TWICE. Heard it again on sports talk radio.

The name's never going away.

Typical overreaction Monday in the NFL. The sky will be falling in 16 NFL cities.

So I'm watching the Cards @ Niners game, and I couldn't resist to share this play with you guys, another example of how bad Jordan Reed is at run blocking, the guy doesn't even try... Watch the motion guy #81, that's Reed, (just thought it was funny to see him whiff for another team, I hope he stays healthy) :

Re: Around the NFL Week 1

Finished Cards @ Niners.

On one hand I feel more confident in our chances than I was before watching it: the Cards' offense wasn't as impressive as I expected, if you contain Murray you're good. He was under duress all game. Niners' DL is good but guess what, so is ours. So I'm less worried about handling Hopkins and Fitzgerald than I was.
(Their game winning drive was just a couple of scrambles by Murray and a blown coverage on Hopkins.)

On the other hand... their D is legit ! Garoppolo was under pressure a LOT, and coverage was legit good. Scott Turner is gonna have to come with a plan, scheme some short passes and find a way to run the ball !

Re: Around the NFL Week 1

I do think AZ will be a much tougher test for this defense, mostly because they can and will run the ball, unlike Philly.

The offense has to get it going this week, they can't rely on short fields every week (but I hope it IS a trend). I think the offense will do alright though. I don't see the AZ defense as better than the Eagles D.

AZ defense is stout and have some star players, Patrick Peterson, Isiah Simmons, Buddah Baker, Chandler Jones and others, they limited SF scoring.

True, they don’t have the d line like Philly has either. Jones is good, but they don’t have the beef like the Eagles up front.

Arizona oline is pretty average as well. One thing that scares me is the receiving group...those guys can play and we have Apke in centerfield who a huge liability

The AZ defense is fast - not as strong as the beefy guys Philly puts up front. But the AZ defenders were flying to the ball yesterday. The game plan to counter that will be key - misdirection and motion will be important.

Murray is a better runner than Wentz, and so we will need to keep him in check. They just beat the NCF champs at home, so they’re definitely legit. This will be a very big test for us.

I honestly was way more impressed by the Cardinals' D than I was the Eagles'. AZ's O kept punting the ball back and their D kept Jimmy G under pressure, facing a really good Oline too.

Turner seems to be able to scheme around our OL's weaknesses though.

They gave good players. Simmons looked lost in week 1 though. SF managed to score 20 with no receivers, a hobbled Kittle, and a so-so game by Grrappolo.

I think overall the Eagles D is better, but it's only week 1 so who knows.

Peterson and Matthieu looked good patrolling the secondary though.
