Well based on the language of the new CBA, anything is possible. But the status quo is that he'd have to wait for the 2012 draft to go by to sign an NFL contract.

Some of these NCAA rules make about as much sense as McDonalds charging me 25 cents for a cup of water when a cup of ice is free.

You're talking about a situation designed to make the top 1% of athletes happy. Again you start paying athletes and suddenly other sports that provide kids with scholarships and educations get cut. Swimming, softball, soccer, tennis. Schools would directly be attempting to buy championships

Many schools would be forced to cut a lot of these sports that fail to generate revenue so they could pay their football and male basketball players. In fact many football programs across the country would be dropped all together seeing as how only 57% generate revenue. Tuition is already high enough, why should everyone else pay for these kids to drive around in cars and paint their bodies with tatoos when they're already getting paid to get an education?

I am not saying pay them millions of dollars, I am saying let them make their own money. If someone wants to give them a few 100 dollars for their autograph then so be it.

Maybe you have a point. Though I am not about to admit I'm wrong on the internet, I'll give you a "might be wrong."

It would STILL create a unfair advantage. The rules are set up to make it even across the board as it should be.

Also, a big **** NO on drafting this kid. I don't care if we use a 15th rounder in the 2035 draft.

don't lock it yet!

I know this dude has baggage, but I was impressed w/his apology, particularly his words about his coach. He seemed sincere, that's a good start. He may have just needed a humbling experience like this. His game needs a lot of work, but that can be fixed. I'm back to thinking he's worth a 4th.

Kiper is right. If a team does take a shot at him it is at the Wr position. Sorry guys, I am a Big Ten guy and the kid is talented, but in Columbus many if not most of the folks you blogged or talked to thought he really progressed as expected. His decision making never really got much better from his freshman year. He still forced the ball at critical junctures in key games. On top of that is indeed his character. He is an all about me type of guy. Why would you hock special awards and momentos for lousy tattoos.

One of the rare times me and Gus Frerotte will agree on something.

The guy is a QB, not a WR. He did some really stupid things but didn't you when you were his age? I'm not sure if he's NFL material or not, he did improve last year. I'd take a shot at him if it only costed a late round pick.

The guy is not that accurate, plus he has a nasty tendency to force the ball at important moments in a game. It is more the Kiper that is saying he isn't a QB in the NFL. He is quick, but he lacks the decision making that would make him worth giving up a pick for.

Ya I'd throw a real late pic and then use him as a gadget WR he has freakish athletic ability don't think he will ever be an NFL qb
