Re: Jets being investigated for harassment of female Mexican reporter

Alright I'm confused. Some people are saying that men aren't allowed in women locker rooms to interview female players and some are saying they are allowed. Which one is it?

They are. Take it from someone who's been with women in a men's locker room, and men in a women's locker room. They are

Well, what if the situation was reversed. What if a guy journalist wanted to interview women volleyball player, softball players, or what ever the sport may be. Would we be allowed in the locker room during the showering, or dressing period. Would the women be ok with us walking around interviewing them while they stand there naked, drying off. Its a double standard that exists that is kind of shitty. I think Clinton just needs to clean up things a little when opening his mouth. I think he was just saying when you have 53 dudes, naked, showering what ever and a female reporter comes in, sure they are going to see mens bodies and see them naked. They are going to look, we are know that. I just wonder how acceptable it would be if a guy walked into a womens locker room while they were dressing, showering, how acceptable that would be.

Men ARE allowed into women's locker rooms after games. If you don't believe me, ask SmootSmack. The fundamental difference is that the female athletes - - by their choosing - - are either still clothed in game gear or are in "sports bras and athletic undies" or are in bathrobes if they have just showered. Rarely would a male reporter encounter a naked female in a locker room setting. Note, I did not say "Never"; I said "Rarely".

The women do not parade around their locker room with reporters present in a naked state as a general rule.

Don't make this out to be some kind of societal injustice regarding male athletes and female reporters. The fact is that male athletes CHOOSE to parade naked in their locker rooms in front of reporters of both genders. They do not have to do that; they CHOOSE to do that.

Therefore, they are not absolved of all guilt or complicity in any actions that follow from them behaving in the way they CHOOSE to behave.

Here is a fundamental rule of life:

Adults make choices; choices have consequences.

The reporter here has a history that says she tends to be an "attention whore". OK, that behavior has consequences.

The attire of that reporter during the incident in question was not exactly what the typical female reporter might wear into a locker room full of NFL players. OK, that behavior has consequences.

But do not try to exonerate the players here - - or Clinton Portis for his inappropriate remarks. Those behavious have consequences too. And the fact that Portis walked back his remarks so quickly and so completely after he and his agent heard from the league and the team tells you that he does not want to go anywhere near what the consequences might be if he repeats what he said.

Re: Jets being investigated for harassment of female Mexican reporter

We live in a world now where just about anything goes, there's not much of a frown on anything if someone does it because they'll always find justification.

I'm from the old-school. I come from an era in time where females in men's locker rooms was virtually unheard of. It's something that would not have been discussed or considered, let alone implemented. Times have changed however, I'm just not so sure for the better.

I don't know the percentages of the pro & cons relative to the matter [maybe we should do a poll] but I do know there are a great many insecure people in this world [both male & female]. I wonder how many men can say they would have absolutely no problem with their wives or girlfriends being in the place of the female reporter. Come on guys, don't lie to me now, say it like you mean it.

Without knowing much about the situation, I'm willing to bet that both sides are to blame here. Hot chick flaunts her body in a testosterone-filled room of 50+ men, who are glorified by society for their machismo.

One reason might be that if a woman gets turned on in a male locker room, she gets turned on.

If a male in a females locker room gets turned on, he gets a big boner. Well, I guess in Neon Deions case, it would just be "boner".

So, they might take the boner as offensive, and then god forbid he bump into one of the females with that thing set on 110% power..................

Sounds more like a porn flick than a SNL skit. Hot woman walks into a locker room with skimpy attire on, jacked up football player gets a boner. SNL skit or porn flick, you decide.

In my experience everyone is from freaking Jersey. I've never met so many people from a state that I've never set foot in. It feels like everytime I look up some famous person they're from jersey. And there are a lot of times where I'll meet someone new in Georgia and find out they're from Jersey. So if Portis is somehow from Jersey, needless to say I wouldn't be surprised.
