Difference for Mays and our secondary depth now was we had a badass front seven that made opposing qb's very nervous.

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
I don't think anyone was ever saying "We know Shanahan will succeed." I know I wasn't. I had (and have) - as those familiar with liturgy will understand - "a sure and certain hope" that he would succeed. I think we have all had our doubts and, frankly, I still do. At 3-6, I was just not looking forward to starting over again. Winning streaks in December against division foes, however, make it easy to regain one's faith.
If they falter next year, it really depends on what is causing it to determine if MS should be canned. It's still a "right now" league - and, right now, we are successful. If next year's "right now" is a bumbling, penalty ridden, poorly managed team, then MS could very well be on the hot seat. I just don't think this team takes that kind of step back. Mike has gotten guys who buy into his work ethic - they just needed something to be the catalyst for success and, whatever happened during the bye week, they seem to have found it. I believe we have taken the first steps out of mediocrity. As I said earlier in the thread, how we deal with the inevitable talent drain will determine if we take the next.

Edit: i didnt say they had the same win total i said Zorn won 8 games and Shanny hadnt cracked six. My point was that if Zorn can win 8 i expect atleast that from Shanny -even with a lesser team. Not enough credit given to in game coaching or game planning anymore - Last edited by punch it in; 12-18-2012 at 04:47 PM. |

I must have really hopped on the shanaplan pretty hard because i am convinced we win it all within three years. If we get in now on a seven game roll than look out.

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
It was just a matter of time. You could see signs of it working last year even though the Redskins struggled scoring points. We lost a lot of close games last year as well as this year. But the team has come together. Finally. The Redskins are playing like a playoff team. We still need to add some more pieces in the offseason. But Mike Shanahan could become the first NFL head coach to win Super Bowls head coaching two different NFL teams. Bill Parcells has come the closest in that regard.

Maybe. Or maybe I'm saying what if all three were here through 2015? One or two may be locked in longer

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
I'll take a Kyle shanahan-rg3 combo as long as I can get. I would be stoked if we extended Kyle. I'd trade the playoffs this year for locking up Kyle throughout rg3s career in a heartbeat.

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
Shanaplan is working fine, Nice to have a decent GM...hit homeruns this year on rookies which is extraordinarily rare to have the top rookie in arguably 3 spots, QB, RB, kicker....and who thought we'd have a great kicker even in wk 2?...crazy lucky.
The real question is this...if this potentially good team wants to become a SB contender, their greatest weakness must improve...which is DEFENSE....so how much of this is talent and how much of this is a Defensive Coach who consistently puts together 20th ranked defenses. Without this outrageous coming out party of RG3, Haslett should have been a goner...to be sure, defense has played better the last few games....but I think that is unquestionably iffy at best and any team could unload a can of whoop** on our defense...it is a joke having a team ranked above 20th in any category that is trying to win a SB...I know, I know it can be done....for a year....but not if you want to build a powerhouse.... Also...the best time to attract a premium Defensive Coordinator is on the rise...The timing is right, I would SERIOUSLY consider whether changing our Defensive Coach could take a playoff contender to a SB contender within 2-3 yrs.
