The importance of Zorn, look at Hasselbeck!
I understand that Hasselbeck has a slew of new WR's due to injuries, but the system remains the same, and he is doing TERRIBLE. Completing only 45.5% of his passes, 379 yards, 1 td and 3 int in 2 games. He has a rating of only 48.6 after he had the 2nd highest qb rating of his career with a 91.4 last year. I do think this shows the importance of Zorn, it seems without him he is not adjusting.
All that being said, I do not think for one second that JC's success last week was a coincidence, I firmly think Zorn worked with him all week and the success was a direct result of Zorn's coaching. Of course this could all be moot if Campbell sucks this week and Hasselbeck turns it on, but I think we're seeing why Hasselbeck was so good, and why Campbell will become what we always thought he could become.

Hasselbeck has his 4 top receivers out AND he is having major back problems. All the coaching in the world wouldn't make up for those kinds of problems.

Re: The importance of Zorn, look at Hasselbeck!
There was a rumor that he had a bulging disk in his back, but anyone that has had one would know he would not be able to be out there and perform, meaning he'd be riding the pine. Hasselbeck himself downplayed the injury. I don't think it's a "major back issue" nor do I think it's even a serious problem.

Hasselbeck is not any worse now than last year he just doesn't have any help. JC is getting better and I think that Zorn is a great QB coach, but Hasselbeck didn't forget everything he's been taught just because Zorn is in DC.

Guy I work with said all Zorn did was catch Hasselbeck's passes in practice. In Hasselbeck's defense he's throwing to 4th tier WR.

This is why Zorn as our head coach can work. Think about it our D has been solid and we have been able to run since Portis has been here. All we needed was a QB so Zorn being a Qb coach, Helping Campbell become the final piece to our puzzle.

Hasselbeck didn't just suddenly forget how to play quarterback. He's got no help, that's his problem.

Agree 100%. Imagine Campbell throwing to Brandon Lloyd and a tackling dummy and that's probably what it's like for Hasselbeck.

Re: The importance of Zorn, look at Hasselbeck!
I think it's finally the system JC is best in, and one in which he understood in college. but, I will also say I think Zorn has a lot to do with this. This is what JLC from the Post had to say:
Let's take out all of the great stuff JC did, and just look at what he didn't do. Dude has made, what, 20 starts? That's it. And so far this year he has curbed the biggest problem that plagued him in his 10 starts last year: Turnovers. Two games. No picks. No fumbles. That's over a span of 63 attempts, peeps. Let's not forget that. Remember a year ago when it took like 10 weeks for a WR to catch a TD pass? Well, Moss has two of them already this year, and none was bigger than the 67-yarder Sunday. Ten different Skins have already caught passes from JC this season. |

Re: The importance of Zorn, look at Hasselbeck!
I remember a lot of people saying Campbell was,nt a WCO type of quarterback. He was a, drop back stay in the pocket big armed quarterback who was'nt suited for the WCO. Zorn is finding a way to adjust to Campbell and still use the WCO. Zorn has been a big influence on Campbell in a very positive way. I think Zorn is the best thing to happen to Campbell in a very long time.

Re: The importance of Zorn, look at Hasselbeck!
Yeah, as much as I support Zorn this is pretty ridiculous. Hasselbeck has been a top 10 QB in this league for 5 years or more. Let's let him get healthy and get at least one of his top 4 targets back before we reductively attribute all the big plays he's made over this decade to the coaching of one man.

Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a
charm. Lisa: That's spacious reasoning, Dad. Homer: Thank you, dear. Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away. Homer: Oh, how does it work? Lisa: It doesn't work. Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: It's just a stupid rock. Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you? [Homer thinks of this, then pulls out some money] Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock. (could use it in the AIG thread as well, I suppose)

Need to give this claim the full season to verify it.
