RI: More From Brian Mitchell
Redskins Insider - More from Brian Mitchell
Nothing new here, but many have called BM a hater in the past. What exactly has he been so wrong about? Still a good read. Sounds like he would be better as our GM that VC. Dead on about rebuilding. I think the fan base would exactually be more patient that alot think if we only had a plan w/ this organization. Anyway, let's pick up a "w" today. Go Skins! |

I admit, I have been critical of B-Mitch as a 'hater'. But like Jose Canseco (in a bad analogy) he has been proven right very often.

Re: RI: More From Brian Mitchell
I can't stand B-Bitch and his negative remarks in anything related to the Skins but I have to admit that I find myself listening to him more in the past few weeks. Obviously its due to the current state and even now I am ready for "Rebuild mode." I am tired of hearing how we are "so close" or "we only need a player at a certain position." That has not worked for us through Norv and it's not working for us now.
During Gibbs era #1 he prefered the Vets over young Rookies because he felt they made less mistakes. Norv when he arrived needed to clean house and bring in all new young players but instead he followed suite with the whole "we just need on intricate part" theme. Gibbs2 brought us the senior citizen coaching system and our O-lineman got older again. This whole team is old. It needs to be rebuilt with young healthy faster players. |

Re: RI: More From Brian Mitchell
In our case "modify" applies better than rebuild. The only rebuilding we need is in the OL and maybe LB, RB, K (tweaking). Every other position has plenty of young and supposedly up and coming players. I would start off by saying goodbye to players like Daniels, Wynn, Thomas, Smoot, Rabach, Samuels (if he retires), etc. The slight problem that we have is that, some of the players that I would want to get rid off are under huge contracts.

Re: RI: More From Brian Mitchell
I still think rebuild. If they say it and like B-Mitch said peoples expectations lower under the assumption the team is going to be great in the end. two-four yrs down the road. You say modify and it sounds too much like we are just a few players away, by the time we get those two or three players in other positions are old and need replacing.
I'll agree most of our problems are on offense. CB/S are positions I think we are kinda set at if they atleast keep the same young guys to build cohesiveness. We need maybe one or two LB's especially a true SLB. Maybe 2. D-line could use mabye a couple of young guys with talent as back up. Get rid of the older injury prone guys. Offensively... RB-Mason, Alridge, we need a power back to compliment. WR-Kelly, Thomas, Mitchell, we need a #1 if none step up. OL-we need talented youth. RT/LT/C. Cut the older guys. TE-Cooley, Davis(and I think he's still servicable), big blocking TE needed. QB-Cut Collins, JC most likely gone, needs a youth movement...Colt, Woodson, I really liked Chase's poise and accuracy, but he's gone unless he can be brought back in somehow. Need another young talented QB. So no I don't think we are 1 or 2 players away and most likely should call it "Rebuild" mode. |

Speaking of Daniels, I think it would be nice if we are able to hire Daniels as D-line coach next year or something.. He took Jarmon into his wing, and look at Jarmon now.. He's doing more than we expected him to.. I don't see any reason why Daniels could not do same thing with other young guys.. |

I think we should try moving Horton to SLB? He tends to play like LB when he's close to scrimmage of line.. Other than bulking up a little bit, I think he would turn out to be good player for us as LB.. |

I don't know about your Horton idea. I am tired of the whole thought process of having one player able to take on 2-3 different roles or moving him from his roll he excelled in, in college to a roll of need. Simply cause he has talent. Orakpo needs to be a DE and a DE only. |

Re: RI: More From Brian Mitchell
Everybody called him a hater because they bought into a small change here or there would take us from .500 to a division title.. now they realize that hasn't worked.

Re: RI: More From Brian Mitchell
The one big problem we have is all the big money invested in players like:
Portis ARE Moss Hall Thomas Samuels Rabach Griffin If I could, I would get rid of all these guys right away.

Re: RI: More From Brian Mitchell
Why would anyone be pissed at B-Mitch? He's just stating the obvious to anyone with eyes and half a brain.

Re: RI: More From Brian Mitchell
B definately has a Skins axe to grind....but I pretty much agreed with his assessment in the article......
