Redskins trading out of the 4 spot?

Looks like all 4 teams are looking to make trades, It's going to be hard for the Rams to trade down from 1, but we can land Bradford or Clausen at 9 or 10. I'm all for it.

NFL's first four teams in draft have talked about trading pick, sources say - ESPN

Re: Redskins trading out of the 4 spot?

It's the same nearly every year, the top spots always look to get out of it, because most teams near the top of the draft realize they need more than just one star college player, not to mention the salary impact. But due to the high cost of the first 5 picks, it is rarely seen for the top picks to be traded. At one point Goodell said the owners may implement a rookie cap this year with or without NFLPA backing. I hope they do, it would open up a lot of possibilities when it comes to trades.

I don't know why Det. would want to move down. They already have a ton of picks after fleecing Dallas for Roy Williams. The only way I see us moving down is if McCoy or Suh somehow slip to us.

I don't if any of you are listening to 980 AM (I can't at work) but supposedly Kevin Sheehan is reporting that he got an email from an unamed source in Redskins "management" saying the Redskins are working on a blockbuster trade that would include JC, Landry, and Moss.

Did anyone else hear this???? I'm trying to find a link or something that will give this some validity.

Anyways...take it for what its worth...Once I find something I'll post it.

Interesting. I have a pretty good idea of who this source is that fed Sheehan that info. This source definitely has some connections, though I don't know who they are and he's no more "management" with the Redskins than Matty is with ESPN for knowing me or I am with the Capitals for knowing guys there.

But, if it is who I think it is, then yeah he's someone worth paying attention to:

That said, I do have a few comments:

-Are you sure they said Campbell and a pick or player for Whitner? That seems like overkill

-It's no secret that Campbell will be shopped. As I understand it though, the hope is more of a 3rd and 3rd/4th (maybe with some conditions that could move it up?) I haven't heard about any legit blockbuster trades. Still early though

-Haven't heard anything legit about Moss being involved in a trade

-From what I've heard Landry will be traded if the deal is right, whatever that means

-Rocky is being shopped as well. I think for a 3rd ideally (they'll tender him at a 2nd I think). Word is Jarmon might replace him at OLB...unless they land Peppers I guess

-I've heard Zac Robinson mentioned a couple of times but it hasn't sounded too legit to me. I think that's someone they may bring in if he doesn't get drafted (which he may not)

-Tony Pike's also been mentioned as a possible mid-round option (2nd/3rd)if they don't take a QB early.

-Not sure where this whole Shanahan loves Brennan thing is coming from. I know that people inside Redskin Park have been really pleased with Brennan's attitude this past year and he's made a good impression on new management. But I don't know that that necessarily equates to love.

-If the draft were today between Bradford and Clausen, Bradford has the slight edge

-Of course Bradford and Clausen are not the only two choices. I think I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago but it seems that Charles Brown is really the main target. Which I think is great. Of course, last year at this time it was Brian Cushing

-I don't think they plan on drafting Brown at #4 so if they did draft him I would assume a trade down did happen.

-The Colt they allegedly really love is Colt McCoy...so get ready for the Cabal of Colt!

-Remember, it's not even March

With the uncapped year, the possibility exists of seeing player for player deals like we hadn't seen before. Since the contracts were always a bit of an obstacle to getting deals done it's going to be interesting to see if teams are more aggressive/creative in acquiring players in different ways than signing free agents.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

I think, and this is just my own speculation, the Redskins will be in several medium size deals as opposed to one or two major ones

Re: Redskins trading out of the 4 spot?

I could see Campbell traded, LL has been discussed in trades since our season ended.. Moss's time here is up also, I've always like Santana but we are moving forward with Kelly and Thomas.

Re: Redskins trading out of the 4 spot?

Here's a direct quote from my buddy who heard the rumor on 980. Like I said...take it for what its worth....

Quote:
On my trip to Jerry’s Pizza today while listening to ESPN 980’s Sports Fix with Kevin Sheehan and the guy who sounds like an older version of high pitch Eric, they discussed the following as a result of an email to Kevin from an unnamed Redskins source that Kevin trusts due to previous accuracies:

The Bills are talking to the Skins about trading S Donte Whittner to the Skins for Jason Campbell and possibly another player or draft pick
The Broncos are seriously considering a trade with Washington that involves Brandon Marshall for Laron Landry and Santana Moss
They report that Shanny loves Colt Brennan, and have targeted Zach Robinson as a late round draft pick

Colt Brennan? Are you kidding me.. Zac Robinson is ok but I'd rather keep Campbell than drafting him. Sam Bradford is a no brainer for Shanny's offense.

Yeah....I'm not sure about Shanny being "in love" with Colt Brennan. Again...these are only internet/talk radio rumors...

I like the trade for Marshall. Horton can play SS and Moore could play FS or we could sign someone. I don't know about trading JC for Whitner. The draft pick would have to be a good one.

Sorry Colt Cult, Brennan isn't ready to lead our team. The guy is built like a jv QB. He'll snap playing behind our line.
