Madden now has a monopoly on the NFL teams and players. this is tragic. now EA has no competition and even less need to improve their recycled game every year. BULLSHIT ![]() |

Sounds like EA felt ESPN breathing down their neck.

As long was gonna sell it for 19.99 , people were gonna buy it. That was a great maketing tool for them. Have people try it cheap htis year, then maybe up it like 10 bucks next year. Guess they wont get the chance now.

they can charge whatever they feel like now. and add as little to the game as they feel necessary. as if they hadn't been absuing their position already...

Its never a good thing. I dont know if there are any Pro Wrestling fans in here, but I am or really I was until the competition ended. Competition forces you too keep your product good and up to date. As long as there is no competition, Madden can slack off all they want. They know people will buy the game, even if they dont make the nesacary improvments each year. I just like having any version of the "new year" for the roster updates. But now that that could be the only new feature in things, it really sucks.

I think it's sad that everyone was looking forward to next years version with a next-gen consoles coming out AND ESPN making a very decent offering and pushing the envelope.
I test for EA Sports, and I will tell you this is a very, very bad thing. I think in the next version you'll see the 2005 gmae in new skins for the next gen consoles with very little gameplay or feature additions.

So... they signed an exclusive with the NFl... does that mean the NFLPA also?
I'm thinking that maybe they can use the players... just not team names/unis/logos. |

Yeah, they could make a game that is like "backyard football or somthing" then you can have for example.... If you could select all the players you want (say like a fantasy draft) for the game. Then the other person can pick all their players. Kinda like captains in backyard football. Then you can name your team and give them whatever colors you want. That might work, EEich, go tell your peeps @ ESPN, and we can be millionares?!?!?! :headbange

i read about Blitz:Playmakers not too long ago...i like the concept, but dont like Midway's arcade feel of play. it's fun for a few games, but gets old quick.
that's disappointing that the NFL would do something like this...albeit Madden is the best game out there, this (as others have already pointed out) does not allow for competition, which means what we have this year will most likely be it for a while, with a few minor upgrades here and there.

This sucks, but I just hope the other sports leagues don't do the same thing. Guess the $20 ESPN games will be over soon. All I have to say as look what happened to WWE once they got rid of the competition. This is a bad day for video gamers no matter what spin EA puts on this.
