Week 15
Mike Pettine wouldn’t put Russell Wilson in the top tier of NFL QBs | ProFootballTalk
I once said RW was overrated and that he isn't as good as RG3...... Damn I was blinded by the B&G

Re: Week 15
I said the same, but I don't think I was blinded. His first year Griffin was better. The difference is injuries and progression by Wilson, and regression by Griffin.

But now that the running game is gone and the defense is not that elite anymore, Wilson is playing at an elite level and Seattle is getting their money's worth. I know it's been only four weeks, but he's being insane during that time. RG3 had to be better since he was asked to carry a team, whereas Wilson had the fortune of being eased into the QB position and didn't need to do much with the elite running game and defense.

It took 3.75 seasons for Wilson to start showing he could be the catalyst of the Seahawk's offense and really those examples are still very small and they have played some awful teams these last couple of weeks which probably has at least something to do with his improved performance. I remember through the first two months of this season a lot of 'Hawks fans were questioning the money they paid for his contract. One big thing Seattle has been since Wilson was drafted? Consistent. They run the same offense, the defense up until this season has been a beast (and it is still pretty good just not all-worldly at the moment) It's likely a lot easier to bring a young QB along slowly when there is consistency. |

Re: Week 15
He doesn't play defense and that defense has won a lot of games.

Re: Week 15
Agreed. His numbers are good, but not great. I don't think anyone can say the Panthers' success is dependent on him as much as, for example, the Patriots success is on Brady.

The Patriots defense is 6th in yards and 8th in points. The Panthers defense is 3rd in yards and tied for 4th in points. Brady doesn't play defense either though. |

Re: Week 15
Thing is Brady has done it over and over, time and again with a whole cast of characters so it wouldn't be a surprise and he would be deserving ,my out side pick is Carson Palmer all year long he has been nothing but great!

Re: Week 15
Yeah both statements are true. Wilson has really come on as of late and deserves the praise he is getting.
However in 2012, it's not hard to see why Robert was Rook of the year. He did the most with the least around him and Wilson mostly really came into the picture once Darrell Bevel realized that the read option was a viable strategy. Seattle started running it a lot more later in that season and it helped improve Wilson's stats, however over the course of the entire season game-for-game? Robert was better. |
