Redskins cut DB Hall

In one of the oddest moves this offseason, the redskins just cut db cory hall days after signing him. it's true, over at redskins.com they have an article on it. This is very confusing as to why the skins would do this.

they are alrady discussing that in the gibbs press conference thread. It was not surprising because i think we are going to sign R-Dub.

Wow, Good catch Mooby... I think he was contemplating retirement before signing and probably just decided to go that route...

Re: Redskins cut DB Hall

If we sign Maquarters we can have a special team unit with nothing but return men. I think we now have 11 men with return experence.

Cool Re: Redskins cut DB Hall

r.w. is better tham i burn ide jamohlot, so for depth and the dime or quaters unit he could help, and the added plus of being able to return. the smaller they are the more brittle they seem to be. maybe the coaches want some quality depth.r.w. plays cb, brown can play wr, morton could play 3rd dwn back,if he comes cheap take'em. as far as hall maybe he could tell it wasn't a good fit.who knows. sala ve

No big loss. We are deep at safety already.

"R Dub" did leave without a contract......wonder if that is bad news?? Usually when guys leave without a contract they sign with another team......I'll still keep my hopes up because I think McQuarters is a player!

He's got some value and he's just going to test the waters a bit.

Re: Redskins cut DB Hall

Does this mean that Harris is gone? Seems to me we have plenty of DBs and LBs but not enough quality depth along the DL.

Harris is the projected starter, costs next to nothing, and is quality corner. Even if we sign McQuarters, Harris is definately safe. Rufus Brown probably will not make the roster. We do have good depth at DB (with Springs, Harris, Rogers, Bowen, Lott, Clark, Prileou (sp?), and Taylor) and LB (with Arrington, Washington, Marshall, Holdman, McCune, Clemons, Smith).

And you are also right that we don't have quality depth at DL. However, Daniels is healthy (for now) and Noble should be coming along from his knee injury. So, our dline has more depth than it did last year.

Moreover, the heart of Williams' system lies in the LBs and DBs. Provided our linebackers and secondary don't falter too much with the losses of Smoot and Pierce (which it shouldn't), we'll be fine on defense.

Offense is the real question mark with the QB, WR, and TE situation uncertain. I wouldn't worry too much about the defense. I'd only start to worry if we have some major injuries to multiple players on defense. If Williams leaves, I expect wholesale changes to the defensive line since I know of no other defensive coordinator who can do so much with so little on the defensive line and the guys on the line (i.e. Daniels, Noble, Wynn) aren't getting any younger.

Re: Redskins cut DB Hall

Yeah. Gibbs should've told Taylor he could not change his jersey number until he attends OTAs. Now what number will McQuarters wear with us? Or will we have another buyout?
