Hawkins Signed!

Well its look like we have signed the former cornerback of the bengals and panthers. I really don't know much about him other than he is used to started in cincy until he hurt himself in training camp with the panthers before training camp. I just wish we saved some money and get our rookies signed before we start spending money left and right. Anyway what we need is a pure pass rusher at end if we are going to sacrifice our money.

Re: Hawkins Signed!

i really wish we signed our draft picks before we signed a free agent. plus it seems like we are stocking up on cornerbacks and safeties way too much.

Re: Hawkins Signed!

Greg Williams is content with the line he has. He loves to have those stud DB's and with Taylor in the clink, the loss of Smoot, and with Clark hurting his hammy this guy could just be a camp body, or he could end up taking away Ade's job.

As soon as the axe falls on Rod Gardner you will see our rookies get signed.

Re: Hawkins Signed!

I'm down with signing some depth at DB.

Geez! Hate to break it to ya.....Ade is gone....right now he is just roster filler...In case you were wondering, so is Rufus...
Rod will stay around through training camp in case a team has an injury and needs someone right away.
He will be one of the last cuts, if he gets cut.
With Dyson, Gardener, Moss, Patten, Brown and Jacobs we would have a balanced attack...
Moss , Patten, Brown and Jacobs are speedy.
Gardener and Dyson are big.
Dyson is a great ST player.
No room for Thrash and McCantAndWonts...I mean McCants

Not to start anything but what are you smoking? If you think that Dyson is a better STplayer than Thrash... Just for the record what has Dyson done in the past 2 years to be credited with such praise?

James Thrash is one of the unsung heros on this team!!!! Thrash will be on this team this season and you can take that to the bank!!!

Re: Hawkins Signed!

Wow, that would have been hilarious if Gibbs was like, "Are you a McCAN or a McCANT?"

no offense, but have you been following the offseason? gardner is long gone and thrash will be a redskin for life, he's the best ST player on the team... ade is good on ST too and both ade and rufus managed to make the team last year, so i wouldn't be surprised to see them make the cut again... both are liked by williams.

Re: Hawkins Signed!

Ade is an excellent special teams player along with Thrash, they will both be on the squad. Mccant will probably be gone and we all know Rod Gardner is history. Draft picks normally don't sign until early July...they will get it done.

Re: Hawkins Signed!

It amazes me how some people overreact to every freaking offseason signing.
So we signed another experienced DB....so what? We all know Williams likes to use a lot of them, plus the roster right now is 80 players. That means 27 players will be gone by the start of the season. At this point, I'd rather them try to sign experienced guys to compete in training camp, rather than guys that have not played an NFL game on this side of the Atlantic.

As for signing the rookies, very few rookies are signed before mid-July, so I wouldn't worry about that...it appears that the Redskins aren't, and it's their job to get it done.

As for Hawkins, don't know much about him, but I see that he is a veteran that has played and started in the league, so he is either just someone to push the younger guys, or a guy that wants to prove that he can still play and will really push for the nickel/dime back spot. Either way, it's good for the team.

Re: Hawkins Signed!

I agree SkinsRock. We shouldn't be getting our panties in a bunch over this signing. You want to go to camp with plenty of warm bodies, for competition and for depth in case of injuries.
