Vote: Stability rating of NFL teams

This is a survey on espn.com that ranks teams by stability. We rate 27/32 currently. I don't know what to draw from this, and I am being a little bit of a homer but lets vote and improve our rating. We rank behind the Raiders in stability this team is like a roving insane asylum, this is unacceptable.

I don't know, we're pretty damn unstable. Gibbs has brought some consistency (in terms of personnel and players), but truth be told we're down at the bottom on the league in stability.

thats the biggest true knock on us. Gibbs is changing that but we're still recovering.

I got this friend in a fantasy football league who is a business major, has owned a few business and who thinks he is Gordon Gecko from the flick wall street. Every year he runs his fantasy team like a manic trading players left and right, dropping players, adding players, changes his team name every week, ZERO STABILITY.

I swear, Dan Snyder is the same way, except his fantasy team is the Washington Redskins.

Yes, it is true. I hope that someday our Gordon Gecko turns into a Warren Buffet who takes measured, calculated strokes to ensure long term security.

thats why this season is so important. i really think this year will dictate whether Gibbs & Williams stay on and keep us on the path to stability, or part ways and put the Skins through one more upheaval.

I agree this year is important but I think Gibbs will stay at least three years regardless. Williams I'm not as sure about he may be more inclined to leave if the right situation pops up. I feel if the Minnesota job opened it would be perfect, or another team with an underachieving Dfense. I do feel however that Gibbs really needs to take hold of the franchise now and not let the quick fix mentality stay in DC.

yeah, if we get into the playoffs (fingers crossed so hard they're bleeding), it's conceivable Williams could stay along with Gibbs to see how much further they could take this historic turnaround. if the season is anything like last year, i can't see Gibbs stick around another year just in terms of the bad stress and his age. I could only hope Williams would become the HC in that case, but again this season will dictate so so much.

Re: Vote: Stability rating of NFL teams

I think we deserve that rating, after all the shit that happened, ST not returning Gibbs' calls, getting arrested, LA's contract dispute, Coles and Gardner wanting to leave, and everything else, we aren't that stable.

Re: Vote: Stability rating of NFL teams

I think it has more to do with our constant roster and coaching re-shuffling, not the off the field troubles that nearly every team has.

Re: Vote: Stability rating of NFL teams

Yea, the instability pretty much starts from the top and trickles down. We've been pretty unstable as an organization since, well....practically since Gibbs was last here.
I would like to see Williams stick it out for another few years. I think the general feeling within Redskins camp is that Williams is the heir appearant to Gibbs.

If anyone leaves next I would think it would be someone like Blache or Lindsay, possibly for a DC job somewhere.

Hopefully we can keep this staff together for a few more years.

One of the things in our favor though is the team has never relocated, (since moving to Washington) and has one of the strongest fan bases in the NFL.

But is it conceivable that before Gregg Williams accepted an offer elsewhere Gibbs would take on a front office role (before his 5 year deal expires) here just to keep Gregg Williams with the organization? It sounds silly, but if Gibbs' ultimate goal is to right the franchise and he can't be here indefinitely to make that happen, why not pass the mantle on to someone you know bleeds burgundy and gold?? Someone you know has a similiar philoshophy and you may have imparted some of your offensive genious to?

i feel the franchise is just waiting for him, but we have to see how much its worth to him.

because of all the money involved, the stadium, the history, and the constant hype i think the Skins have the most to prove of any NFL team.
