Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?

TheGoat posted about franchises being turned around completely within 3 years. I know that it's happened but I can't think of the team. I've said it on here many times, I once watched a very interesting show on the NFL network, about the NFL's most winning teams, and they all had nearly the same amount of time that it took to put the team together. They said between 5 and 7 years to where a team was consistent and in the playoffs every year.

I don't think Shanahan will get fired but I do see the scenario about mutually parting ways if they lose out this season. My prediction is between 2 and 4 wins this year...I think that record is bad enough to either warrant a firing or perhaps Shanahan just steps down...

Wow 5-7 yrs? I can't imagine any owner waiting that long to see results? At the same time there should be some noticable and consistent results during that span. Other than last years playoff berth (which is looking like an abberation) there hasn't been anything to make anyone think The Redskins are heading in the right direction.

It was really fascinating. Someone on here may know what the name of it was. I watched it for the first time in 2011, and it replayed like 4-6 months ago.

The owners did stay the course, for the most part. They said 5-7 years, but consider that 5-7 years was the total amount of time spent to where the team was successful every year, playoffs, etc... In that span of years they started seeing improvement.

I agree with you though, it looks more like last year's playoff run was luck and and easy schedule over real improvement / talent.... It seems that we are regressing and in general just in a bad way....

Lets be realistic folks - he isnt the greatest coach in NFL history and he isnt the worst. He hasnt had a ton of success here or for a handful of years in Denver twards the end. He has done both good and bad here in four years imo, but he had a five year plan and I think the way Snyder has backed off since this regime took over speaks volumes about his job security for next year. If we get our cap money back, and have a completely healthy and more mature Griff at the helm next year we can be a solid team. If we shit the bed again next year I think Mike will walk away. If not than I think he rides a good thing.

But what if RG3 is never what he used to be, and the fact that we completley abandoned the Zone Read that RG3 excelled at. They are trying to make him into something he may not be able to be.

Is it a situation like with Jason Campbell where you don't bench him no matter what, even if a healthy and maybe capable Kirk Cousins is rotting on the bench? Put cousins in when they are mathematically eliminated. If the team all of a sudden comes alive maybe you have found the problem and Shanahan has some hope for 2014...

I think it was a Larry Michael int in the locker room. Robert said like....Paraphrasing heavily. "He's not playing well and he was going to do what it takes to return to his more productive form. Regardless of the people.....advising against the run, he would take what was there. If a run presented itself....He'd RUN"!

Seattle was 4-12 and 5-11 the two seasons prior to Carroll and the front office changes. They actually had Hasslebeck starting at QB at the time and he was still a good starter, but that front office and Carroll brought in a lot of the young talent they have today.

They had success before that though and young talent, also haven't not strapped by the cap with horrible contracts of the past like Shanny had. We haven't any success with building a team since Gibbs was here the 1st time, it's going to take a decade to completely recover.

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?

I think Shanahan has through his fifth season, like many have said he has had to deal with sub par players the last two years at a lot of positions due to the cap hit. However, I would say a lot of contracts appear to be up in 2014 and 2015 so that would be perfect for change as a coach would like to bring in players that suits their style.

The Saints turned it around quickly once Payton and Brees came aboard.

But, at the risk of beating the horse further, they did not face a $36 mil. penalty.

For the record, I"m not excusing Mike for some of the crap that has gone on because some of it is most definitely coaching issues, and I've stated that before. I just don't like the fact some of you are trying to act like this was fixable in 2-3 years with the restrictions and handcuffs put on him.(restricted FA/Lockout/cap penalty)

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?

The last year and this year have stunted the growth of the team and organization with the cap penalty. Especially last offseason we couldn't add any o-line help or secondary help with zero money to spend or to keep our own guy AKA Lorenzo. Oh and a QB coming major knee surgery who isn't a pocket passer and team are making him throw to beat them. He is proving he needs a lot of work to get there, he is a horrible right now at reading defenses and progressing through his reads.

Okay, Lorenzo Alexander. The guy who got away.

Lets say we have an additional $10 million in cap space (the difference between our restructures and the penalty).

Are you absolutely certain you'd match an offer from the Cardinals to pay Lorenzo Alexander $10 million over the next three years? Is that wise? Is there any chance the Redskins match that offer, even if they can afford to do so?
