I think I have an amicable solution and one that has not been tried yet believe it or not: Bring in someone from the CFL who has won their Grey Cup before.

Corey Chamblin
Head Coach

Just a thought.
Saskatchewan won't let him go.

More importantly than who will be the next coach, who will be the next GM that (hopefully) will be selecting the coach? I dug up this list of potential candidates from a BR article this spring..

10 NFL Front Office Personnel Men Who Will Be General Managers | Bleacher Report

A couple of intriguing candidates.. Gutekunst looks like he's got some scouting chops, Jason Licht has a nice pedigree of organizations he's been a part of.

I know the prevailing thought from those in the know is that Scott Campbell and/or Morrocco Brown would be strong internal candidates but to be honest, leftovers from the Cerrato, Gibbs, Zorn and Shanahan regimes? Thanks but no thanks.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Yea, I'd redo the whole front office. Keep Allen on up but everyone else...bye. Scouting, Athletic training...bye, PR department....bye, get some real business people in to fix the whole organization from seats to tickets to food to field turf, etc. etc. bye.

Maybe with a whole new Front Office attitudes and expectations will be different.

Morocco is basically the favorite and will probably get it if-as expected-Allen moves to a different role, but I agree that we could probably do better.

Couple of names to think about-Tag Ribary and Duke Tobin

I say hire Jon Gruden as HC and bring in Jay Gruden to be the OC. Something like that hasn't been tried before has it?

Great call! That would be totally unprecedented. Gruden could even hire his little boy to be the QB coach.

Smoot, is Ribary and or Tobin actually being actively pursued by the Redskins? Because if so, I would rather go with one of them (probably Ribary) than to promote Morocco. Brown just seems like wild card to me, and we can see how well the Bengals and Seahawks are doing.

Ribary, not that I know of.

Tobin. Well I know they have strong interest in Jay Gruden. And Gruden is very close to Tobin, so...

So your thoughts are if Jay comes here as a head coach, then it's a strong possibility Tobin follows? In that case, I'd probably be just fine with that.

SS, after the past events of this very embarressing week including a direct shot yesterday "Dan doesnt care about the other positions", are the odds pretty much Shanny doesnt return? Is it pretty much wrapped up? or is there still a 10-50% chance Shanny returns?

To be fair he later clarified:

Quote:
Shanahan also said: “That’s what you do about a quarterback. He’s your franchise. That’s why you ask those questions. You don’t do it about the other positions. Dan could care less about the other positions: ‘Hey, that’s why you coach. That’s why I own.’ I understand that. That’s not a problem. But I do ask it about a quarterback because we’re gonna have a circus atmosphere any time you make a decision like that.”

Shanahan later clarified that remark in a conference call with Atlanta reporters, saying any owner would be concerned about a decision regarding the quarterback and Snyder leaves all football-related decisions solely to him about players at other positions.

Mike Shanahan says Daniel Snyder, Bruce Allen on board with benching of Robert Griffin III [updated]

I could do Gutekunst or Decosta as GM.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

I heard Darrell Bevell's name being thrown around as a possible head coaching candidate......Snyder needs to stay away from big name coaches and hire an up and coming coordinator for a change.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

I know this is an impossibility, but I believe the best thing Snyder could do for the longterm health of this organization is to keep Shanahan until his contract ends. The choice to actually patch-up a relationship rather than terminate it would certainly change the attitude about the organization that outsiders have. It would enable the Skins to attract better coaching options. It would promote a sense of elasticity and autonomy within the organization. Organizations are like relationships: strong ones don't avoid conflict, they handle it. They don't allow conflict to destroy relationships, they use conflict management strategies to strengthen relationships.
