Re: Current 2014 Free Agents

What Sproles can do isnt an area of need.
We need to spend this cap money on linemen and the secondary.
We dont have the luxury of having luxurys......

Plus I want to see what Chris Thompson can do for us. He was supposed to be our Sproles at the league minimum.

How is a proven dynamic PR/KR a luxury of luxuries. Sproles wasn't cut for performance, he was a cap hell casualty, and if he came here (at around what his contract would have been this year) it would be a solid move by the Skins FO.

Remember how bad our ST's were? and a dynamic screen game plays to Griffin's strengths, just mixing those with Garcon's screens would force the defense to play the whole field.

Playmakers are always a need.

Especially one that can line up all over the field and return kicks too.

Exactly. Getting weapons for RGIII is a definite need.

The first priority should be adding a couple of people that can block for RG3.

Chris Cooley had an interesting take on the O line, he said Lictensteiger would be moved to center, and the Redskins were happy with their tackles

Polumbus is a solid back up but no way is he a 16 game starter. I've just seen him on roller skates too many damn times.

So you have no confidence that Thompson will be able to grow into this role? That remains to be seen. But this has been the problem around here, not having the ability to develop our own players, or not doing it enough.

Signing a playmaker like Sproles isn't the same as not developing our own. Thompson was a 5th round draft pick from last year, who was out with injury. If anything, bringing Sproles in on a reasonable two year deal would let us develop Thompson properly. Expecting him to be a Sproles - like playmaker after being put on IR his rookie(only) season is likewise overvaluing our own player and missing an opportunity to take advantage of another team's poor salary cap management.

To me, RB is one of the fee strengths on this team. Although Helu is not as elusive as Sproles, he's more than capable of catching the ball out of the backfield. We just have too many other needs...tackle, guard, interior pass rusher, LB, secondary, WR..even TE.

I agree but as we say when we get a new coach these ain't his players.

I didn't see anything from him last year that would make me pass over a proven player like Sproles.

We have homegrown players in Morris and Helu already in the backfield.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents

Does anyone think that we can sign Ward or Mitchell for under 6.5 mil? If so, I don't see any reason why we can't add Ward and Talib.

Mitchell will be under $6.5... he has only started 1 year, and misses lots of tackles
