Lol. I say we put up a fifty burger on their d. So let Jerry Garcon have a big day.

Re: Bittersweet post game thread.

Honestly, on the 3rd and 2, I was really hoping that they would not go deep. I just felt it was too risky and would have preferred something short to complete the first down. Given how banged up the defense was, I wish Jay would have managed the clock better.

I get the instinct of going for the TD, but not on a 3rd down.

I still feel that we've lost a lot of games due to missed early opportunities. The way the Defense played in the first half, the offense should have put up more than 10 points.

Can't play scared there and hindsight is always 20/20. KC put it on Doc and he has to catch that. And I feel Doc makes that play more times than not. Score a td, man up on d and win the game. We ain't quite there yet...

It's not playing scared, it's playing smart. The Defense was running on fumes.

If the offense had manned up in the 2nd quarter and put up some more points, perhaps they wouldn't be in this situation.

Losing sucks, but I thin we've taken a big step this season. Let's hope everyone is rested and healthy after the bye.

On defense, yes.

The offense IMO has taken a step back, two steps back at WR. Skins/Kirk still are awful in the red zone. Whenever we are in the red zone and settle for 3, that is a major dagger.

We were pretty awful in the red zone in the previous year, so that to me remains the same.

Ok you play GM here. Would you have paid Garcon 23 million over 2 years, like the 49ers did? Would you give Jackson 20 million over two years? He has a whopping 9 catches and 1 td for Tampa. I know I would have let both walk for that amount of money. Especially when the defense needed to be upgraded and you have a potential stud in Doc. Having two 10 million plus FA WR's is not a winning formula. So tired of the Garcon and Jackson talk.

Re: Bittersweet post game thread.

Preston Smith doesn't line up offsides and Doctson makes that catch the Chiefs get the ball back on their final possession down 24-16. Whole new ball game at that point.

In general, and specifically against other good teams, the game is won or lost on a couple plays.

I’ve got no problem with it either, in fact that’s exactly what I wanted them to do. Take a shot to potentially win it, settle for the tie if it doesn’t work.

Great effort, but how could the defensive game plan not emphasize keeping Smith in the pocket. F#%King bad angles all night long.

It was clear the defensive edges were keyed not to let Hunt bounce out. That's not really that surprising is it? If you are letting Smith or Hunt get a downfield lane, which would you be more worried about?

I didn't know anything about Kareem Hunt besides the fact that he racked up yards in the first few games of the season. I figured he would be a speed type back, had no idea he was quite the banger. He looked like what we expect Samaje Perrine to look like.

Re: Bittersweet post game thread.

One non-call I'm disappointed in was Mitchell's PI on Vernon Davis on that big hit he took. I freezed the frame and you can clearly see Mitchell lay the wood right before the ball got there. It's a crappy shot but you can still tell:

Did that lose us the game? No, but it didn't help. Yeah if Doctson catches that ball all is forgiven. TBH I'm more concerned with the L we took in the injury column. On the bright side this bye week came just at the right time.

Edit: Matty did you disable images or something?

Re: Bittersweet post game thread.

I know folks are sick of WR talk but that drop by Doctson was literally a team and player altering moment, assuming defense held on. Imagine if that was the winning catch, super frustrating.
