Yeah and he should be sent to the Russian Front. Even then, he wouldn't be able to cover himself with a blanket.

Re: Walt Harris Sucks

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but the guy is horrible. I thought so before we had the bye week.

If we play Rogers at this point, I don't think there will much of a dropoff, if any.

Richard and Harris are close. Throw in Elvis Patterson for the Giants from a few years back. He earned the nickname "Toast" by his team mates. Want to guess why? Yet, he has a Ring. Right time, right place I guess.

Re: Walt Harris Sucks

Here's a snippet from NFL.com's TMQ.

"Stop Me Before I Blitz Again! Washington leading City of Tampa 28-21, the Bucs faced third-and-9. Since the average NFL play yields about six yards, all the Redskins had to do -- anyway it's a six-blitz, 46-yard completion. Two snaps later, Washington six-blitzed again, touchdown pass. Now it's Washington 35, Tampa 28 with 1:05 remaining, Bucs on the Skins' 30. Blitz; Edell Shepherd is single-covered deep, touchdown and the stage is set for the fateful ending."

Does anyone think that maybe, just maybe our secondary gets hurt because we blitz too many guys? That's what you get for not having a pass-rush from the front four.

Re: Walt Harris Sucks

Well said Ramseyfan. We need someone (especially at DE) coming off the edge and making QBs run for their lives without blitzers having to help. I also agree with the comments earlier about Harris being an average CB who needs help from the pass rush. Harris really was solid as the nickelback last year, and he had a few good games early this year. He's really not a bad player; we were just hurt by Taylor's absence and the lack of a pass rush. It's funny how some fans turn the tables on a player when things go bad. Earlier in the season he actually did a very nice job tackling; just look at the Dallas highlights. Still, I'm hoping we put Rogers in soon. Experience will be the only thing that makes the rookie get better.

Re: Walt Harris Sucks

As for Stanley Richard, he may have led the 'Skins in tackling for a few years but that was only because our front seven stunk so badly. And yeah, he wasn't a good tackler.

I can't believe that we are lamenting Walt Harris' poor tackling skills and wishing we had Smoot back in the same thread. Maybe time has fogged our memories of Smoot, but he wasn't the type to act as a demo in a tackling drill.

Re: Walt Harris Sucks

I heard on the Skins Podcast, that before the Eagles game, Gibbs had a special tackle drill and the players jokingly called it the "Walt Harris Drill". Anyone else hear about this or did I miss the thread or post somewhere?

You can get the podcast or direct mp3 download here:

It was funny hearing it. Rusty said its one of those drills you can't just take Harris aside and humiliate him, yet the whole team knows why they are doing tackle drills (going for kill shots instead).
