Re: Panthers Postgame sadness

The biggest elephant in the press room that I have not seen the press get after Ron about is the slow starts by this team. It is a running joke between my son and me that we have to get down 17 to scare the team awake (referencing scary Terry's jersey). It is pathetic to know that regardless of the quality of the opponent, we are going to spot them a double digit lead.

Has anyone heard the team's response to this? It is not all on the offense either.

Not having scored at all on their first possession of the game through 15 games is on the offense. Some of it's execution I'm sure, but in my opinion, a streak that long has to be a direct reflection of Scott Turner's ability (or inability) to put a game plan together.

I just wonder if it is even more than that though because the defense comes out seemingly unprepared also. So it makes me look at how the top 3 HC, DC, OC run game prep. Usually both sides of the ball get it together around half time but something in warmups or game prep must be off to be so perfectly imperfect.

Agreed to an extent, I blame the players for not executing and Scott Turner for being unable to put together a first 15 plays sheet that can get them started fast.

Cred making a great point...slow starts have been a big issue. Skins have been behind almost every game going into halftime.

Also Logan Thomas breaking out:

Logan Thomas has the third most targets among tight ends in 2020.
Thomas, who has run more pass routes than any tight end in the league, has 101 targets, 29 behind Darren Waller and 38 behind Travis Kelce.

Told y’all to draft him on fantasy team

We lost because we were pretty terrible most of the game, but in case you needed more evidence of how terrible the refs were yesterday. I hope it's years before we see that crew again.

SunnySide - Your post is pure Bull shit. it is not societies fault. As far as I am concerned, that old lament is some liberals way of blaming everyone else for being lazy, entitled and immature.

Dude take your political talk elsewhere (we have forums for that).

That being said, Haskins had plenty of opportunities. While I get he didn't get the best start here, he had plenty of chances to get himself straight. He didn't and his play got worst and has made dumb decisions on and or off the field.

Bits from Ron's presser:

Terry Mac has a high ankle sprain. (I believe that's a 2-4 week injury, so prob. not looking good for this week either).

QB depth chart: #1 Alex, #2 Heinicke, #3 Haskins

Re: Panthers Postgame sadness

Haskins might be one of the worst first rounders I have ever seen. Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell may be worse. Shuler was really bad as well. Haskins is right there with those 3.

Let's not get carried away w/ Heineken. He certainly played well yesterday. Dropped a few dimes and can do the basics, unlike Haskins. But I think if he has to start and play an entire game from the start it may not go well. Smith really isn't any better at this point, he just has experience. We don't have a QB and will have to address the position after the season.

Oh yeah definitely. I'm not sure anybody would think otherwise. Alex Smith is one of the most amazing sports stories I've ever witnessed, and he actually played quite well in some games, but we know he's not the future, and we need a starting QB next year.

Re: Panthers Postgame sadness

All I will say is everyone saying Heineke should have started or put in at the start of the third....he throws an int on his first pass, you’d be complaining Ron should have kept Dwayne in and you’d be saying he should have given him the chance to “get hot” in the second half like vs Seattle. It’s just too easy to second guess as a fan, because you don’t have to make a decision or deal with the ramifications, you can just sit on your couch and say Ron should have done something different. I’m pretty’s sure Ron and Scott know that Dwayne sucks, but without Alex any choice is a really bad choice. And remember, this was a situation they inherited. And finally...too much coffee this morning....I blame Jabril Peppers for hurting Kyle Allen because I know he leg whipped him on purpose. 🤬

It was so extremely apparent that Dwayne was shitting the bed that I do not think it is second guessing. What changes if Heineken comes in and shits the bed? Nothing. You go from terrible to terrible. The only way was up - that is how bad Haskins was playing.
It should have been done at the half, If not after the first quarter. It literally could not have gotten worse.
