Re: Around the NFL: Pre-Super Bowl

Lovie Smith is back as DC in Houston, now why would Deshaun want to stay for this shit show. I thought Lovie was done years ago.

Jesus fuck. Throw the book at him.

Rumor:

Texans are hiring Ravens assistant HC/WR coach David Culley as their new HC.

And their backup QB as their QB coach!

https://www.rotoworld.com/football/n...82/josh-mccown

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Texans are "targeting" Josh McCown and Lovie Smith as assistants.
The Texans were shredded for giving McCown a head-coaching interview over more qualified candidates, but all signs point to the former quarterback as being a future NFL coach. Being hired as a QBs coach or passing-game coordinator would be a reasonable start. Smith would bring a lot of experience to first-time head coach David Culley, and he's available after being fired by Illinois last December. The Texans have their offensive coordinator in Tim Kelly.

Plus Watson's trade request is OFFICIAL now.

https://www.rotoworld.com/football/n...deshaun-watson

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Deshaun Watson has requested to be traded from the Texans.

It's been long reported that Watson wants out of Houston, but this is the first time his request has been considered "official." Schefter adds that Watson actually hasn’t spoken to new Texans general manager Nick Caserio nor executive Jack Easterby since the former's decision has already been made. With a no-trade clause baked into his deal, the 25-year-old will ultimately choose his own suitor on the market. One after another, Houston's dumbfounding decisions and cronyism in the front office transparently highlight an organization that has no direction or intention of winning in either the near future or long-term, resulting in this decision. Whomever lands Watson will merely take on a team-friendly $10.54 million cap hit in 2021 and have its franchise cornerstone locked up under center through the 2025 season.

Sports book is open in Virginia now...

Whose gambling for the game?

Re: Around the NFL: Pre-Super Bowl

Rams and McVay basically admitted that the Goff contract was fucking terrible.

He is younger than Stafford, drafted just as high, and was traded for Stafford and a cajillion picks.

I kinda feel bad for Jared Goff, man came back from a broken thumb to play in the playoffs a week later and he gets discarded like this. I think McVay and co. could use a lesson in how to talk to players if they're on the block.

Re: Around the NFL: Pre-Super Bowl

Whats the chance the Lions try and flip Goff for a 3rd or so?

Ability to "extend the play" seems to be heavily valued for modern QBs and I dont think Goff checks that box.

I didnt watch much of the Rams but he looked good against us, 3 td drives in the 1st quarter. I didnt watch his games down the stretch where Wolford became relevant.

I like the idea of keeping both our 3rds ... but wouldnt Goff (71.4 pff grade, almost 4k yards in 15 games, 67% completion %, 7.2 pass yard avg) be an immediate upgrade for us?

Cap hit is 27M in 2021, then 25M per year after that through 2024.

id put Goff in consideration. He is better than what we currently have and seems decent enough at presnap read, make quick decisions post snap.

Re: Around the NFL: Pre-Super Bowl

Not a fan of Goff at all especially for the price tag. I think he will struggle to match the numbers he put up with the Rams now that he won't have McVay in his ear.

Re: Around the NFL: Pre-Super Bowl

If the Lions didn't want Goff, they'd have taken Carolina's offer, which included pick #1.8, over the Rams' offer.
