I think given the run of WRs, the team couldn't have traded too far down, if their goal was to get a WR and picks.
Plus we assume that we can freely trade down to exactly anywhere you want... but you have to find somebody to trade up...
I think they got really good value back for sliding down 5 spots.

So basically, when you think about it, and I know the 2 trades aren't connected, overall we get a starting QB + a 4th + a 7th round, and all it costed us was sliding 5 spots in the 1st + sliding down in the 2nd round + (potentially) a 2nd next year.

As for the pick itself, we all know that we won't really know before 2/3 seasons, but I like that they are trying to give Carson extra weapons.

I agree. Not sure WR was such a high need this year?
One of the best Free Safey prospects in years Kyle Hamilton was there and available before we traded back. So was Olave. Not sure you pass on those two blue chip players like them to get a finesse speed WR. I like extra pick but I don’t pass on Kyle Hamilton and we need a FS. Such a key position on defense.
Hopefully the big RB Brian Robinson pans out and we get away from the finesse football we have been trapped in since we hired Gruden.
We have to get more physical on offense. We have to develop a more diverse balanced offense. We have no power running game. None.
Carson Wentz showed good skill when he had a strong Oline in front him in Philly. When injuries set in on that Oline his confidence crashed.
We have to get him protected and give him a power running game. It help so much and get us back to the playoffs.

Ron doesn't seem to value Safeties in general particularly in the high rounds of the draft. What possible use would an All Pro safety be after all. Those crazy guys in Baltimore, never get their drafts right. I would hate to think where we would be if we hadn't got very lucky in the 7th when we somehow got Curl

Especially since Ron played on the world famous 46 defense of the 85 Bears.
The 46 defense was named after Safety Doug Plank and was centered around the strength of those safeties to cover while the front Seven blitzed on almost every play.

@NickiJhabvala

The Washington Commanders have signed first-round pick Jahan Dotson, per source. The 4-year deal is worth roughly $15.05M.

When you see those numbers, you can really start to understand why teams are trading their veteran wide receivers. They are getting paid way more in 1 year than what Dotson will make in 4 years.

The rookie wage scale was one of the best things the league has ever done, rookie deals were getting way out of control before they put that in place

Absolutely! Gone are the days where a guy like Sam Bradford gets $78 mil ($50 mil guaranteed) before ever playing a down in the league.

Speaking of him, would you say he collected the most money for being mediocre at best of any NFL player in history? That's a bold claim, but I feel like it might be true...

Reportedly $130 million in career earnings. There's definitely an argument to be made there.

"Bradford eclipsed the $100 million mark early in his career due in large part to luck and timing. He was the first pick in the 2010 draft, the last draft class before the NFL put restrictions on how much rookies could be paid. He was cut by the Cardinals mid-way through the 2018 season. He was cut by the Cardinals after just three games in 2018 and has not played since."

Bradford is the poster child of Andrew Brandt's Business of Football Hall of Fame.

He's definitely top five, but I feel like he made a ton of money for being a JAG. JaMarcus Russell gotta be #1 when it comes to guys who got paid the absolutely most without ever earning a dime of it though.
