Re: Steelers sign Ryan Clark

Just so that everyone knows, Clark signed a four-year contracts, and most contracts of this length come with some sort of signing bonus. So essentially, I do not think that Ryan Clark has to worry about being cut (especially because the guy plays hard). Starting may be another issue, but I see Ryan Clark starting alongside Polamalu next year.

I wish him the best, I hope learns how to avoid stiff arms(i.e. the Seattle game) before the season starts, lol. All jokes aside, he was definately an up and coming redskin.

I hope he does well, and I liked him as a player, but to be perfectly frank Archuleta represents a significant upgrade over him. And I'm satisfied with Prioleau as the 3rd safety.

He served us well, but I'm looking forwards not backwards.

Yep, Thanks alot to Ryan Clark for all he did here. I'll never forget the Monday Nighter vs Dallas last year when someone said "Why the hell do we have a guy named Ryan Clark on the team, and why is he in the game?" After he blew the Glenn TD! LOL, for some reason I found that quote halarious.

All jokes aside, I really liked Clark, and will probably never forget the INT he had against phiilly. He was a great charachter and a tough player and I hope he has a great career in Pittsburgh.

Well, knock Ryan Clark waaaay down on my list of players I like. Check this comment out:

"It's a wonderful day," Clark said. "I was at the airport, swinging my terrible towel. I was with a team with a great fan base now -- they're going to hate me for this -- but I'm with a team with an even better one. The beauty of it is I'm coming to a team that's already great. I'll just try to fit in and be part of this great organization." ...

The note about him is at the bottom:

I still don't see this as all that exciting. I watch every 'Skins game from start to finish. When Ryan Clark is in the game I don't sit at the edge of my seat thinking "Oh, hell yeah, here we go!" He was serviceable and played well. Can't knock that against him. But between he and Prioleau I'll flip a coin and take either one as a backup to ST and AA; even Bowen if he were still on the team. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong Philly game but if the INT everyone is talking about was the one that McNabb through into his chest at the very end of the game then it didn't seem very "must keep this guy" memorable to me. I'll take a look at the highlight games and see if I'm mistaken.

what do you expect him to say? "This team sucks, the redskin's are the only team in the nfl worth caring about, and i'm sorry you gave me a multi-million dollar contract."? I mean really, everyone talks about how the steeler fans travel the best etc anyways, so its not like he's lying through his teeth.

I expect him to be gracious. There is absolutely no reason why he needs to say that the Steelers' fan base is better than ours. He can just say he's excited to play in a town with a great fan base, he's excited to be a Pittsburgh Steeler, and leave it at that.

The comment about our fan base was entirely unnecessary and unsolicited.
