Re: Any Positives From Tonight's Game?

We are experiencing the affects of change. We added quite a few new players, a new [or different] coordinator on offense and a 700 page playbook. When you have a group of players who have not had a lot of reps together to prepare for game like situations it takes time for all the pieces to come together. We also had a short camp with limited contact and players playing in games who were not here from the beginning. We are coming to see the pre-season hype has to be transformed into solid play on the field. I'm going to take all things considered and beleive that as we continue to become familiar with each other things will look better. Right now just about everyone is disappointed with the team for one reason or another but soon I think we'll begin to build on the momentum we established at the end of last season. We have good leadership on this team and I'm convinced that will be our salvation.
Pardon my rant, but I feel these factors are important to consider.

That's fine, but like everyone has been saying -- we're running a VANILLA offense! You can't dismiss the offense's performance to a complex playbook when all we keep hearing is that the plays are too simple or "vanilla."

We've only used the first 10 pages of the playbook (vanilla)....opening day against Vikes we'll see "Rocky Road" chocolate, mixed with vanilla, mixed with various nuts, marshmellows, with sprinkles on top... the Vikes defense and all other defenses won't know what is happening

Great 2nd post, Toast! Welcome to the Big Burgandy House!

BTW, it appears from Toast's age, that I am no longer the most senior member here at TheWarpath.net, just this side of the most senior.

That's good news! But I still might be able to beat him in an arm-chair-race. 0-Snore in 65 seconds! (And sometimes, like here at w*rk, it doesn't have to be an arm-chair!)

Re: Any Positives From Tonight's Game?

it was jus a bad nite, the only brite spots i saw were randle el, and archuleta's sack. our defense looked like shit, uncharacteristically giving up big plays, special teams looked bad too. even tho theres alot of problems with tonites game, im still not worried. its only preseason, and even tho Saunders is running the offense, gibbs is still gonna keep it vanilla for the preseason, and williams evaluates the defense by putting players in situations where he can evaluate there failure if any, so basically whoever doesnt suck the most wins the job. so i wouldnt worry. i mean yeah im still a skins fan and i was still yellin at the tv and shit, but its only preseason. remember whos coaching this team. In Gibbs We Trust.

Re: Any Positives From Tonight's Game?

i'd say it was good to see our secondary not getting beat downfield alot, but then that's just because they were busy tackling runningbacks our line and linebackers didn't..

ugh bad showing all around. all i can think of that was positive...was Campbell not looking like a rookie, Sellers being more of a pro, and most of all, minor injuries.

i have to say, none of our new defensive acquisitions, Andre Carter, Rocky McIntosh or the new DBs, looked very special. this was the Jets!

My brother-in-law made some really good steak sandwiches for our tailgate (no mayo). That was positive.

At least there is something. What I really didn't like, in both games, is this feeling of not caring, of having no real fire, that we can just turn it on when we need to. Great teams do not have this mentality, no matter who their players are. Come on. That was the 4-12 Jets and we made them look like the ball-control skins of old. In our own house. Yes, it's preseason, and yes, evaluations, vanilla, etc. But where's the pride? Whenever you put on the skins uniform, you should bust your ass on every play, because that's the sort of team we want to be. Didn't see that tonight or last week. I assume Gibbs will light a fire, as will WIlliams and the rest. But it's gotta come from the players. All of them, all they way down to Todd COllins.

Rant over. At least it didn't count. :vomit:

Here Here dude. I think its good these bums are out there, if it werent for their disposable bodies Id say cut them now but if they want to be out there and taking those hits so our 1st 2nd string arent fine. But the axe has to drop on many.I can tell by the lack of post from us that we all are disgusted by them right now. When they play like shit I feel so incomplete. This is not what I bust my ass for all year and week leading up to the game to see my Skins get out played and embarrassed like that. I live in Baltimore and Im sure I will have to punch out the first person who brings up that Jets game to me next. This is also why I cant go to preseason games.

Theres nothing to really say beyond this already. ITs gonna be a long week for everyone. Im so upset I dont even wanna talk or think Skins for a while. What a damn disappointment.
