I'm not sure about Williams. Of course, I keep having Richie Petitbon flashbacks, so that's not helping either.

One thing is for sure, he'll never be lost for words. That guy can really talk, he answers questions before a/the reporter finishes asking them. Guys may not be buying into him the way we origionally thought.

If I could remember where I put my 8-Ball, I could get a good source to answer your question.

Is the question 'Do you thiiink he will be the next coach ' OR 'Do you think he will be the best choice for head coach'?

To ask this question today is an exercise in playing 'what if' games. Too much unpredicatable future involved to even present a valid analysis of what would be best at the coaching decision milestone point.

he's more than deserved his chance, especially if he manages to get a handle on this year's defense.

i'd much prefer Williams over Saunders though.

I think if Williams gets the defense back in shape (I'm thinking after the bye week), he'll be a likely candidate.

I never wanted him to be the next head coach. I think he's a great defensive coordinator, but he's not suited to be a head coach. He needs to consistently put out a good defense before we start talking about him as the head guy. The only way I would be happy is if he's the head coach and Saunders is in charge of offense or they have a new head coach come in and keep Saunders and Williams.

I still think not only is Williams our best choice, the paperwork is practically done. Greg Williams' defense has been amazing nearly every year in the league. This one is an abiration.

GW probably deserves a shot at it. I'd like to see it. This season is not the norm in regards to the D. He's smart enough to see what this team needs.

I'd hate to see a coaching change, but if it HAS to happen then I would rather someone internal get a chance, than to bring in a new guy. Williams seems like a good choice. But, what I really want is to have a long-tenured coaching staff without all the overhaul every 5 years.

As far as internal candidates, I really think Greg Blache deserves a shot as a head coach. If not here, then somewhere. He should have been the head coach of the 49ers

Coaching Changes are the last thing we need right now, if Gibbs leaves, we should def let williams and saunders stick around. Both are proven coaches with good gameplans, we just don't have the defensive talent this year. Change sucks as we have learned year after year. When we don't change, we have our most successfull years.

How about Bill Cowher, Boomer Esisaon on dc 101 noted the skins will go after him after this year, i am not sure if this was a joke or real. It's probably a smoking gun. We should try to get him however!

Lots of rumors are surrounding Cower at the moment. The Rooneys are tight wads and probably won't pay him what he's worth and Cowher doesn't get along too well with Art Jr. whose taking over operations. He bought a home in Raleigh and word is NC State will probably offer him the HC position there. He's said he views his job as a year to year thing, so who knows how long he'll stay in Pittsburgh. I guess it depends on who makes him the best offer.

Re: So Will Greg Williams Be Our Next Coach??

if he's not our next coach look for the season we have with the new coach to look like this current season or worse.

we definitely need the continuity. i think if we get a #1 CB then we're dominant again. some help on the DL wouldn't hurt either.

personally though, i'll wait and see how this season ends up.

I agree with you. I think it would be crazy not to keep GW. I know everyone here in Washington lives by "what have you done for me lately" but lets not lose our heads either.

GW has been a proven defensive guru that get's the most our of the players he's given. He excells in designing he defense around the talent, not vice versa. I think he made some poor decisions this season, but I think he's a good enough coach to learn from them and I'm sure we'll be right amoung the elite again in another year.
