Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

You got a lot of patience Mk72!

After reading the posts, I feel like I am eulogizing Brunell.
Anyway, I've been a Skins fan since 1970. I have seen a bunch skins stuff starting with Sonny, and George Allen. As you older skins fans can attest, there have been many memorable moments (good and bad) along the way. This last non-play off appearance drought has been long and painful. The success we had last season was SWEET and LONG OVERDUE. Brunell is not solely responsible for those victories. His courage, determination, and that of 52 others is. I thank them for that!
However, As long as I live I will NEVER forget the night in Dallas 2005 when lightning struck twice through the arm of MARK BRUNELL. He and Santana Moss did the unthinkable. They drove a stake through the heart of our MOST hated rivel. It righted many wrongs, gave us back some respectabliity.............. thankyou Mark

Well, anyone could've done that. Besides, it was just Santana running under a couple of overthrown balls. <sigh>

To all the haters: Please just stop. MB gave us all some pretty good memories as Skin's fans and contributed to our late season playoff run.

Good on 'ya mate!

I'll remember him for beating the Cow-Whores in the most gratifying way.

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

I said this before we even learned Brunell was going on the bench, looking at things as a whole, I'm a Mark Brunell guy. I have both his home/away jersey from when he was with Jax, I truly loved to watch the guy play, he's a complete class act, and just a good guy. He did not have a good run here, I'm glad he's on the bench, but I really like all the guy did in his career. If we had Mark Brunell from 1998, we probaboly would have won the super bowl last season.

Atomicnixon,

Nice summary of Brunell's highlights as a Redskin.

I have the utmost respect for the man. He performed some absolute miracles for our team over the last few years. Sweeping the cowboys? playoffs?? Those two ideas were just dreams to redskins fans everywhere of late. Though I have been pretty rough on him this season, I truely will miss him and loved all the effort he put into our team. I hate to see anyone struggle near the end of their career and I hope he still plays a solid role in education JC on the mental aspects of the game.

I'll miss you, Mark.

I also want to thank Brunell for being eternally classy. Brunell did not whine, at least publicly, about his benching in 2004 or 2006. Brunell did not refuse to tutor Jason Campbell when we drafted him. Brunell has never thrown anyone under the bus to justify the team's struggles. Brunell has always shown class, even when fans did not show him similar respect at FedEx Field.

So, in sum, thanks Mark for your efforts and class. Although you're days as the Redskins starting quarterback are likely over, you've had a great career.

(Yes I am pretending that Mark will actually see this).
I think his 40 Mill pay day and 7 year contract- when nobody wanted him at all- is ENOUGH of a thank you. that said, class move, for a class guy.

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

Mark Brunell was not the cause of all our problems. Brenching him will not autmatically get us to the Super Bowl. There are a lot of issues. Swapping quarterbacks will just throw more attention on the next one.

Thank you, Mark Brunell, for your efforts. The situation changed. Going into the season, we asked you to deliver the ball and avoid turnovers. We looked to others to be playmakers. With everything that's happened, we need more from the offense. Maybe someone else's talent and athleticism can be the spark. On the field and off, you still have a contribution to make.

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

the horrible contract wasn't brunell's fault, that's on the skins.

he gave us almost a full good year, and he never hid or shied away from taking the blame when he played poorly, even if it wasn't totally his fault. I don't think he'll be back next year without cutting a lot of money out of his contract, but we'll always have 14-13 @dallas and a string of really great games last year (SF, KC, DEN, SD, DAL, DAL, NYG, etc).

He didn't play well against San Diego last year. But anyway, he did well last year most of the time, and he is a classy guy, but I am glad he isn't starting anymore. I don't think we've seen the last of him though.

hog1, those 2 t.d's against Dallas were almost as good as Kilmer to Taylor, against Dallas in the 1972 NFC championship game. Brunell was a class act. like said before, too old, and too beat up to give us consistent GOOD quarterbacking. but in todays NFL, not a peep out of him , as far as excuses. thanks for being a good redskin, and better yet, a good teammate
