Chip was the last reliable guy we had. it's time to get someone that we don't have to cross our fingers for every time he kicks

Thank God Hall is gone.

I'd like to see Suisham get a shot at the gig.

Im gonna miss Hall, he was the only kicker that gets the personals from knocking guys over after the field goal.

Re: John Hall won't be brought back

The word out of Seattle is they're not going to let Josh Brown get away:

Taking into account the bad taste that has lingered in the Seahawks organization since the unceremonious departure of Pro Bowl OLG Steve Hutchinson last offseason, inside sources tell us it's highly unlikely the team will allow PK Josh Brown, the player considered least expendable among its free agents, to split the scene this season. "I think it's imperative that they re-sign him," Seahawks special-teams coach Bob Casullo told PFW last week. "Considering his value to the team, it's a no-brainer."

The whole Suisham vs. "Another guy" for kicker sounds like it might be a good poll question...personally I think he's earned a shot...he's been accurate, he's got distance, he helped us get into overtime with a clutch shot so he can handle the pressure, and he's young (25 years old).

Suisham's kickoffs were at least adequate. Something Hall struggled with and Novak only dreamed of. There aren't a ton of kickers who have both the leg and accuracy we are looking for.

If only we had brought a good young guy back in the day. Oh whoops what ever happened to that guy Akers?

Re: John Hall won't be brought back

This is what bother's me about the choices being made over at Redskins park. If you give a young guy a shot and he proves himself, why replace him with some big dollar kicker that is "supposed" to play better and make things happen? The young guy that is doing well is the guy that will continue to work hard and do well because he has been given the opportunity of a life time. When you take a guy that has already proven his worth on some level, and then pay him millions to do what he is supposed to do every day - you get an AA!

Great post.

Players need to feel like their hard work will be appreciated and rewarded. If they bust their ass in practice, do what's asked, and turn in a good season, they deserve a reward. To pass over them for the next high priced free agent is going to result in a pervading sense of injustice throughout the locker room.

It causes players to think: "Well sh*t, Ryan Clark busted his ass and ran through walls for this team, and performed well out there. And then they let him go for this bum, AA? What incentive do I have to run through walls?"

EXACTLY! We can't be the only ones (fans) that see it this way. The coaches really need to get focused on the players.

Except it's not like the Redskins are the only team that can pay them. They would still run through walls for their next contract. Whether it's the Redskins who will pay them or someone else.

Except they're running through walls for selfish reasons instead of for the good of the team. If a player thinks he's just playing for a contract, he's more liklely to do what he can to rack up the gaudy stats and less likely to do the dirty work that doesn't show up quite as easily, like blocking.

It's hard to get players to buy into playing a team-style game when they're only in it for themselves.
