Re: F...Shaving

So Matty, you've had the Merkur 180 for about 5 months now, how is it? I just purchased mine off Amazon last night and it should be here by next week, I finally got tired of using cheapo razors, and the electric trimmer I used when I was growing the beard from Dec-Jan doesn't work that well on scrub, so here I am. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I went with the crystal blades as well.

I used it a handful of times, but I'm back to my fusion. Just wasn't a fan.

I found it to be too much work. You have to basically shave twice, and some areas are more problematic than others and take multiple passes. There's definitely a learning curve to it, and I just didn't care to learn it.

It definitely takes more time to shave...it takes me about 3 min to shave each side of the face. It has become an every other day ritual for me.

Well at least I'll know that when I start shaving with it. My morning routine is busy enough as it is, so I guess I'll set aside time at night to shave. At this point, anything is better for me than what I'm using, I bought an average electric trimmer that works great when you have a beard, but when you're just trying to get rid of stubble it really doesn't compare to a close shave.

I did the same, I started in early December and went until the end of January, until I finally got tired of it and just trimmed the whole thing off.

I've been rocking my beard since July. It's almost James Harden-esque now.

Re: F...Shaving

i have shaved maybe 3 or 4 times in the last year. i use a beard trimmer with the shortest setting and "shave" with that. no make matters worse, the hair below my jawline grows west to east as opposed to north to south. it's almost impossible to shave evenly with the contours of my jaw/neck. ingrown hairs are unavoidable.

Re: F...Shaving

Read about Dollar Shave Club this morning, and it looks very tempting...

I've found the Gillette Sensor 3 Disposables to work out very well for me. I shave in the shower, and one of the disposables lasts me a month at twice a week when I'm not rocking my beard. I got sick and tired of watching the blades go up in cost, and don't necessarily care to learn to shave with old-school razors. If that's your bag, more power to ya. I want shaving to be over and done with.

I'm definitely going to look into that

Looks very interesting, but I've had the Merkur 180 for about a month now and so far so good. I only shave once every 3-4 days right now, and I have to use a new blade every time I shave, but since I bought the 100 pack of blades for 6 bucks I don't have a problem with that. I can definitely see why people prefer other razors though, if I don't watch what I'm doing it's very easy to get sliced.

my mother-in-law always gives me and my brother-in-laws all some weird lotions or skin care products every christmas in our stockings. this year she got us this Buy Alba Botanica Moisturizing Cream Shave, Mango Vanilla & More | drugstore.com i only shave with razors in the shower and this beats the hell outta anything i have ever used before. and thats with a week or so of a beard, highly recomend giving it a try.
