While, the hat may have been an issue, I seriously doubt that JG would bench a productive receiver for that issue alone. JG may have taken him I aside and reminded him that "hey, this is a family entertainment league". I know u think JG has a christian bias that affects his football decisions, I would suggest, however, that he wants football players first. If they happen to be christians, all the better in JG's opinion. JG has always been about winning and, as evidenced from the first time around, he will use/play and deal with football players whose bent is different then his. (ex. John Riggins, D. Manley). As to the "sudden" turn of opinion on Lloyd, it may also have taken six months of playing with him to realize he was a dick. Perhaps, just perhaps, there wasn't some sinister christian plot to bench and carry out a character assasination on Lloyd. Perhaps, just perhaps, it just took that long for his true colors to come out. Lighten up Daseal, baby.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
10 million dollars up front, 30 million dollar contract extension, and no TD's, as the #2 receiver on the team. Now, however you want to look at it , that classifies his first year with the team a BUST. I dont care who the QB is. There are 4th and 5th string receivers catching TD's that may get a ball thrown their way 1 our of 2 or 3 games. I think ole B. Lloyd needs to come down a notch and realize he is not the star he thinks he is. No doubt the guy has talent. Speed, and hands that seem to be pretty damn good. He should be owning #2 or #3 corners in this league. Until he gets this attitude of "why me?" out of his head, he could be a productive WR for us. Santana Moss should help the guy out. Hopefully Joe's little talk and discipline at the end of the year turned the light on for the guy. There is a chance this offense could really put some points and numbers up if they all work together and not so caught up in getting the ball. They have to realize Santana is going to get most of the balls, but this offense will spread it out if the guys get open.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
the problem is he has a long track record of having a bad-itude (R), and there's no real reason to expect him to change any more than expecting TO or randy moss to change their attitude. It'd be nice if it happened though, he'd get a lot further that way.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
Maybe we can kill two birds here.
In honor of Joe2 and his all dominating Christian mentality (Warning: satire in progress) and to get the Indians off our backs, we could rename the team the................CRUSADERS, INQUISITORS?????? And by the way, unless it works for us from a dollar standpoint, we need to indoctrinate BL into the fold. He's a dumbass for wearing the hat, but he can be a dumbass and still produce.....lose the hat. If that doesn't work out kick his ass out

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
Well, it would appear that B. Lloyd is well on his way to the hall of fame with a signature catch like that! If that's what you need for membershp, then he's a shoe in for sure!
Seriously though, being a Redskins fan is tough, because we always get our hopes up in the offseason, and then get them smashed to the ground once the regular season roles around. So, I try not to get my hopes up as much as I used to, but look at it from a more realistic standpoint. Realisticly, IMO, not that I know for sure what is realistic and what is not, is that no one really knows for sure right now whether or not Lloyd is a bust or not. There's no sense in hyping him and saying, oh wow this man can make some spectacular catches, he'll be great for us next year, cause we all know he also doesn't show up sometimes. In addition, I don't think there's much sense in saying that he's a huge mistake at this point because of some attitude problems and dropped passes, because we have seen glimpses of him making some great plays. And then there's the other part of the equation, that it was the first year in the new offense, with two different quarterbacks, who maybe could not get him the ball. Or, maybe he just wasn't open! I'm not really convinced that anyone on the Warpath really knows for sure. It seems like there's two sides to this guy, kinda like a Doctor Jeckel and Mr. Hide type deal. Let's just hope somehow in the offseason we can keep Mr. Hyde from coming around too much. Or maybe, instead of Mr. Hyde, he can turn into the Hulk on game days and just smash our opponents, that would be good too. I guess my point is, I don't see why there's such a hostile argument over whether or not he's a bust after one season. I mean, we all want the guy to be good, and I don't think there's overwhelming evidence in either direction of the argument after just one season. Let's just hope he pans out!

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
I don't think he's a bust at all. It was a hard year FOR EVERYONE. I think he has a ton of talent. I'm glad he's a Redskin.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
It's hard to look at last year and say he was anything but a bust.
Hopefully he can get back on track this year, we really need him to step up. |

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
Brandon Lloyd is yet another example of how "character," derided by many as an irrelevant consideration in evaluating a player, actually does matter. Lloyd was a bust last year, but let's hope that Gibbs can turn this guy around and make him a productive member of the team.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
We will find out this year . The team had an off year , we learned a new offence and the Qb's had to work out timing with the wr's . With that said , Moss got open and made big plays ? I think that Loyd is one dimensional , he has good top speed , but I do not see explosiveness from him . I believe that many teams know they can put a fast corner on him , Loyd will not beat him on slants , comebacks , nor does Loyd seem to run double move that well . Hopefully we run the ball very well this year and can get him on a safety more often so he will be more productive . Any receiver can get deep a few times a year , maybe he has a breakout season ,,,,, lets hope !

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
If Brandon Lloyd is all that good and all that talented and all that important to a team, why did the 49ers actively go and trade him when he had time left on his contract? Surely, they were not overloaded with great talent at WR...
Brandon Lloyd cost the Skins two draft picks and then the geniuses in the FO here gave him a $10M signing bonus. That wasn't his fault; the FO did that. However, that gives Brandon Lloyd a standard to be measured against. He didn't ask for it; but that's the way life goes. Against the standard set here in DC, he's a bust. And as far as the 49ers staff is concerned, he wasn't worth keeping around. Anyone here is free to pick a set of adjectives and adverbs to describe Brandon Lloyd. Until I see a whole lot more success on the field next year, I'd say he was over-rated, over-paid and marginally useful.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
I THINK we are married to this guy for at least one more year??
But his performance up to this point has been all but NULL AND VOID! I personally would love to see this guy get a one way ticket outta DC.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is not a bust!
he stinks unfortually we are stuck with him. Its bad enough we had to give up a 3 n a 4th round picks. Is that the guy still had year left on his contract and we torn and gave him a 10 million signing bonus. Should have let lloyd prove he could play first. Thats why bly want to come here he know we will tear up his contract and give him a big bonus.
