Agreed, but it's getting to the point now were it's just getting overused. These days it seems like every other video game, TV show, and movie has Nazis in it.

Still I kind of want to see that movie.

What the hell does Robert Downey Jr look like? I swear I've never seen two pictures of him where he looks the same.

If its I'd it's going to be a VERY dark comedy. Most of Tarantino's movies have some element of dark humor to them and they're not for everyone.

I love Tarintino and Rodriguez films. My wife only liked "From Dusk Till Dawn" (Clooney, go figure!) she hates the rest of his films. I would agree that that it is not for everyone. I think that it looks pretty good. I have to catch that one.

I also saw the preview for The Last Airbender when I saw GI Joe. My kids flipped! Yes, I watch the Avatar with my children and I am kinda excited to see that movie as well.

Just remember that it's an M. Night Shamalamadingdong flick, so don't get you hopes too high. :/

I saw District 9 yesterday and it wasn't as good as I was hoping. In the end it was just a scifi action movie. Didn't live up to the hype for me.

yeah the advertising had me interested and i normally stay away from sci-fis.

im a big tarantino fan. love his dialogue, camera storyline work even if he bits off older akira kurosawa, kung fu, comic books and old school movies. hes one of the few directors including scorcese, coen bros that ill go see every movie of. good thing is the great directors imo only do a movie every few years, if were lucky.

I used to really like Martin Scorcese, but recently, he's lost it for me. I hated Bringing Out the Dead, hated Gangs of New York, disappointed with The Aviator, and hated The Departed.

The last thing I liked that he did was Casino, and that was basically a ripoff of Goodfellas.

Now he's got Leo DiCaprio starring as both Frank Sinatra and Theodore Roosevelt in upcoming flicks. I can't think of another filmmaker I used to love become somebody I can't stand anymore.

I can't believe you hated The Departed. I think it's one of the best films of the past 5 or so years. I know a few people who didn't love it, but you're the first I've heard use the word "hate."

Also, I loved Gangs of New York. Daniel Day Lewis was amazing. As far as Casino, not really a rip off of Goodfellas other than the fact it was a mob movie. Even if he did take elements from Goodfellas, who cares? It's not like he was stealing from another director.

I agree that The Aviator was pretty ho hum, and I haven't seen Bringing Out the Dead.

He's definitely enamored with Leonardo DiCaprio, but I'm okay with that. He's the best actor of our generation IMO.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Anybody heard anything about James Cameron's new flick? They say it's "revolutionary" as far as special effects:

If you guys have seen Departed, check out the original version- it's a Hong Kong flick called "Infernal Affairs".

I think Gangs of New York is going to be one of those films that won't truly be appreciated for another 15 years or so... I really liked the scale of that film and thought the performances were top notch (DDL was robbed for an Oscar that year).

Shutter Island looks pretty interesting... really good cast. Going to be interesting seeing Mark Raffalo's career take off after working with Scorcese- dude's been putting in work for a long time.
