I am concerned about the validity of the poll results. Don't you think that those in favor are instantly attracted to this thread. If you don't, you don't care. If you do, you do.
I wonder if that's the reason for the results. Or I hope it's just that the skins fans are just ****ing cool. _____________________________________________ "are you cool man...." |

Re: Legalize it!
I didn't mean to say that everything that's bad should be legal or illegal. I meant to point out that a principled objection to the legalization of marijuana based on health care considerations, costs to society, and the belief that the government should decide such issues for the people is inconsistent with a republican principles and the notion that fast food should be legal, untaxed, etc.

Re: Legalize it!
Well boys, the subject has become to fragmented, and polluted to be easly solved by a "correct" answer. That having been said, I respectfully offer NO to the original question.

I know I'm guilty of going off on tangents sometimes, but let's try to stay on topic (even if this thread seems to be almost exhausted).

Re: Legalize it!
I think the premise of Ben's quote is regarding a Govt that works. I view much of our Gov't as unworkable

Re: Legalize it!
We as a society need to be taught to be self responsible. I feel like I go through life with no safety net, but there are many people that feel that the government is their safety net. That's not right. Those people will purposely fall into the net because it's the lazy way out.
__________________ We SHOULD be taught to be self-responsible, but we are not. that's the point. That won't happen as long as the govt is willing to catch you when you fall

I honestly feel the downfall of humans will be the fact that they have been allowed to be nonselfreliant. (is that a word?) For as much as I bitch that people need to be self responsible, I know in my heart that people are lazy by nature and will not change. It saddens me to say it. I feel if there was a politician with the gusto to take all those safety nets away, he would be met with so much resistance that it would be impossible to overcome, and we would likely see an assassination attempt.

Re: Legalize it!
Thanks HOG1. It's nice to know I am not the only one that feels that way.
I know the people in Lee county feel that way since 80% or so are republican, but are the people in Collier county as dedicated to that premise as well? (FYI- I travel to Fort Myers / Cape Coral twice a year, and I co-own a condo in Naples...in fact my mother is there right now.)

Re: Legalize it!
I am guilty of generalizing a bit.
You can believe what you like regarding the weed, and your right to smoke it. The corrupt govt does not look at it like that, and will put your ass in the slam for it.....maybe

I also know, that is the slight risk I take, and if that means going to the slammer for it, I will blame no one but myself, cause I am a self responsible person!

On another note, years ago, I knew a cop that lived in a typical subdivision. He had a "faux" corn field in his backyard that hid a respectful Mary J field in the center, for his own use. He used to store the harvested "product" in tennis ball cans. At one time I counted how many he had. 176 FULL tennis ball cans of POT. What a trip
