Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

Personally to bring him here for vet min. wouldn't be a bad idea for 1 season - he is a possession reciever, none of the guys we have can essentially be classed that.

OH MY GOD !!!! PLEASE GET THE PLANE IN THE AIR AND SIGN HIM NOW !!!!!

Not since the days of Darnerian McCants has there been a "big" target receiver that I could trust would come down with the ball when is's in the air. We NEED a guy like him. He blocks, he can catch, and he still has some gas left in the tank. SIGN HIM !!!

"The days of Darnerian McCants..." hahaha! That's hilarious! He was decent for 1 season. 1. He had all of 53 catches in 3 seasons for us, and '03 was the only year he did anything of note with a whopping 27 catches.

We have a good over the middle pass catcher who can block and is very effective in the red-zone. #47 anyone??

Isn't Keyshawn the same guy who wrote a book telling teams to "get him the damn ball" ??? If we sign him and make him a #3, the we'll have a the most expensive #4 in league history. We need to build continuity and stability with this offense, especially with Campbell and the WRs. Bringing in a 34 year-old malcontent who will end up bitching when not enough passes come his way is just an awful decision. IMO

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

I wonder if Atlanta would be a good fit as well as N'awlins. Nice way to pull off a "double-stick-it-to-ya" to both Tampa and Carolina.

Dang it! I hate not being able to discuss this stuff during "peak hours". It sucks that I'm having a great time with my new job but still...

You are obviously a stat happy guy. Now when McCants was here they hardly threw him the ball but when they did he came down with it. Rarely was the ball thrown his way and he didn't come down with it and I'm not just talking about Madden either. It's not so much having someone to catch passes over the middle, it's about taking pressure off of the other skill players. Yeah you're right we have Chris Cooley and also Santana but seriously did Lloyd make you feel all fuzzy inside by how much attention he drew to himself ? Maybe so, but not me. Johnson will garner attention from opposing defenses which will in turn free up Sanatana and Cooley. Oh yeah and Keyshawn wrote that book in 1997,...10 years ago. So basically your against it because of the money that is already in our top 3 receivers ? I just see Johnson as an asset because he is a proven WR and he's 6 fn 4 !

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

we dont need him and i imagine we cant afford him

we have a great corps of receivers right now. if we can bring the focus back to the run (which gibbs has already promised) and campbell and our existing receivers can continue to build chemistry and adapt to saunders passing attack.... i think an enviable offensive unit will emerge

i like keyshawn but he is an old dog who would have to learn too many new tricks coming here

You know maybe he's ready to try for a championship(not to jinx us). Maybe he will take the Minimum or close for a one year deal. We can use him on third downs at the least as a possession receiver. Especially while he learns the Offense.

Remember, he was with Tampa in SB 37.... With the timing of the release, he won't get much in salary... I say if you get a chance to sign a stud at a bargin price, you do it..... Do I hear an "AMEN!!!"?

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

I wouldn't mind seeing a possession receiver in Washington. They have a bunch of gamebreakers, but Keyshawn can block and he can go over the middle. He doesn't need to be a #2 or a #3, just come in and make a few plays when you need 7 yards. He'll make the catch and he's tough enough to take shots. I don't think it would hurt to add a guy like Keyshawn.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

What's funny is Keyshawn should have realized something was up when he said, "(about Dwayne Jarrett) He reminds me a lot of myself." So, they just drafted a young version of you. What made him think he wasn't expendable? I'm about as close to a Keyshawn fan as I will allow myself to be after he was a Cowboy, but come on, you've been around, you know how this thing works.

As for the "Give Me the Damn Ball," I think that portion of his life is behind him. He is still a loud mouth, but at least he's a hard worker and does the dirty work. Keyshawn plays the game I would want players to play it. It's the off the field garbage that I don't need from him. All in all, I think it would be worth a gamble for one season if I were the Skins.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

Key is no longer a locker room distraction, having been cut from Tampa Bay kinda cured him of that. I'd take him in a heartbeat, and in case you haven't noticed we've got one guy (Cooley) capable of going across the middle.

He is great between the 20s and I don't think he'll be a free agent for long if he still wants to play.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

I'd take him, actually, but I think he will sign with New Orleans or some other team he deems 'a contender'.
