I agree that Portis will still be very effective this season, and that it's quite possible his best days are behind him. While that is true. Portis I think (and hope) that he returns to his 05 form. you are right, he doesn't seem to work hard enough to stay in shape. But now I think he is starting to realize it with all the Betts talk. And I think once he recovers from this tendonitis I think he will work harder to stay in shape. At least he better. Cause he is only going to be 26. If he actually gets that work ethic back. He could still be a dominant force for the next 10 years barring injury. But you are right Schneed he has to get that work ethic back.

If it were the regular season he would rest during the week and be a go on gameday. I'm more concerned about Samuels than I am about Portis, by quite a bit.

Portis hates to practice...I'm sure his tendonitis will be feeling just fine, say in about 5 weeks.

I'm worried about Portis to be honest. Not this particular injury, while tendonitis never completely goes away, you can deal with it. Im worried that injuries could riddle him. Lets hope Betts worked on his blocking and fumbling problems in the offseason. I had flashbacks of Stephen Davis fumbling in important situations.

yeah im worried about him too. its not like portis to have all these injuries. i was really lookin forward to seeing the 1-2 combo with him and betts. this injury can really nag the hell outta you so lets hope its short term and he can return to form by September 9th.

Shit, everyone else is losing guys for the season and now we get hit with CP and tendonitis. Now I have to downgrade his butt in my fantasy draft. It could be nothing big, could be a ruse, but could be a season long thing. Can't take a chance. Damn I was going to draft him #2 or #3. Might still take him as a my backup though. My draft isn't til August 30th so I will know more then.

Not because he has tendinitis, but because he's not the kind of hard worker you need at the RB position to hold up in the long term.

RBs historically wear out very quickly. Most are shadows of their former selves by the time they're 30. The ones who last longer (Curtis Martin, Emmitt Smith) are the ones who work their butts off to stay in shape and healthy.

I think Portis will be good this year, maybe even just as good as he was 2 years ago when he ran for 1500+ for us. But I don't see him ever being as electric as he was in Denver.

That's not to say he still won't be a good back, but I don't think he's going to get any better.

Injuries that happen early in the season usually get a lot worse than they do getting bettter. Lets hope for the best.

CP will be fine by week 1 IMO, but I read in a fantasy football magazine that he has only played in all 16 games twice in his 5 year career. (Ironically he's on the cover)
