Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
Didn't some Eagles fans throw somebody over the railing in Philly? Was it Chief Z?
That right there is the perfect example of how classless they are. They are ready to kill or seriously injure somebody over a stupid football game, and their ridiculously large egos.

Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
Cowell said:
"I went to a Skins - Eagles game a few years back in Washington. It was sad, at least 50% of the fans there were Eagles fans. It was the first or the 2nd out of the 3 years the Eagles had that streak of going to the Championship game and never following through. The Skins got killed 31 - 7 and the Eagles fans booed Bruce Smith at half-time when he was receiving an award. Most classless fans in professional sports." So, let me get this right. 1. Philly fans are classless and bad because they will travel 150 miles to see their team play an away game when the "great fans" of the home team can't be bothered to buy all the tix and then use them for themselves. 2. Philly fans are classless for booing Bruce Smith? It's not hard to paint a picture of Philly fans in such a way to convince just about anyone that they are less than wonderful sportsmen. Just remember the guy who launched a bottle rocket inside the Vet about 20 years ago across the stadium and into the upper deck on the other side of the field. Luckily, everyone was out of the area for halftime or someone would have been killed. But the two reasons you cite here tell me: 1. Redskins fans can be VERY fickle when their team isn't doing well. 2. Philly fans are very discerning in demonstrating their contempt for one of the biggest self-promoters and selfish players in the NFL.

Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
Chris:
The bottle rocket launched at the Vet propelled a "payload" that weighed almost a pound and demolished two seats in the upper deck of The Vet when if flew across the entire width of the field and it impacted there. Had there been fans - of any team - seated there, they would very likely have been dead. The person who launched the rocket was charged with "reckless endangerment" which is not quite the same thing as one would be charged with if all he did was pop off a firecracker or two. What I was trying to say is that constructing an argument to demean Philly fans can be done in a way where you don't simultaneously demean Redskin fans for being fickle or simultaneously imply that Bruce Smith is some kind of paragon.

and secondly, when describing a "payload" please use 5 pounds and above... third, why cant you just hate philly fans like the rest of us and lastly, please stop using the word "fickle" i do see your point and really dont feel like going on any further with this. obviously those seats at the Vet meant a lot to you and i really dont want anyone to get all worked up over a bottle rocket. |

Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
That bottle rocket had to be 4 to 5 feet long to carry over a pound of payload.

Hey! Other than the skins, I am a Flyers, Phillies, and I guess I can say Sixers fan.

Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
They are scum, subhuman, detestable, deserving of their team's historic poststeason impotence. But I will say this, at least they seem to care. I care, and people on this site feeling the hurt today care as well, but I agree with Sherrif that our fans - at least those who attend the games - are as lame as they come.

Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
I attended the game, lost my voice from yelling and stayed until the clock ran out. I bleed burgundy and gold. I will be a fan in good times and bad!

Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
I think the College fans can be pretty bad, but those are just drunk students. Philadelphia fans are drunk single guys.

Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed
Been to lots of them. I go to the Terps games all the time. They do not sell alcohol at NCAA events. I understand that there is plenty of drinking during tailgating but you hardly see issues due to drinking at the college games. Additionally, security has tightened up so much at the games that it is nearly impossible to sneak alcohol into the game.
The NFL on the other hand offers alcohol before, during and after the game. No comparison. |
