Re: If We Had No Injuries What Would Our Record Be?
I say probably 8-1 with the Pats being the only loss

Re: If We Had No Injuries What Would Our Record Be?
when i think of all our injuries (which i try not to do) i dont think about what our record could have been but how it is going to effect our ability to finish strong in the second half of the season.
to answer your question; 6-3 i guess, who knows |

Re: If We Had No Injuries What Would Our Record Be?
We should won every games we lose but the NE game with our injuries. Green Bay game lost by 3, Giants game lost by 7 could've tied the game up, Eagles dropped the game in the 4th quarter. I'm pretty puzzled why folks thinking we would only be 6-3 healthy?

I think it's because personnel wasn't the only factor in losing those games. So changing one variable isn't necessarily enough to change the outcome of the contest.

You could argue though that there was a domino effect, it's an old cliche but it rings true, guys like Jansen, Washington and esp. Randy Thomas can make other players on a team better...I agree with the 8-1 theory.

Re: If We Had No Injuries What Would Our Record Be?
when i think of injuries and how theyve effected us i guess im not considering the short-term miss a game or two injuries that has kept smoot, rabach, daniels, griffin, ST, marcus, moss and others out (they happen to every team) but the major ones like jansen, thomas and rogers.
the loss of jansen and thomas is a serious loss nodoubt but bugel has done a good job of pluggin in other guys to keep campbell relatively upright and the last few weeks theyve done a pretty good job of opening up running lanes. plus we beat the winless 'phins in overtime when we were relatively healthy. i dont know man, its hard to gauge the effect injuries have had on us but they have definetly effected us. if ST was in there in the 4th quarter against the eagles perhaps he could have stopped westbrook on the long screen pass for the TD but he wasnt and he didnt. go skins! |

But to entertain the question, I think our record would be either 8-1 or 7-2. I think the Pats still beat us, maybe closer but not all that close anyways. The other loss I think is either the GB or NY loss. I think we still could've lost those two games if everyone was healthy. In Green Bay, we maybe could have been able to hold onto the lead by grinding it out better, but as bad as the weather was that day and everyone's inability to catch or hold onto a ball. I think we still would've pissed that one away. Against the Giants, Gibbs' second half gameplan would've probably work had the line been healthy. I don't think we would've been in a situation where Betts is trying to punch it in at the end of the game. But the way, the Giants moved the ball on us when it mattered in the second half, they still could've pulled it out. |

Re: If We Had No Injuries What Would Our Record Be?
i dont get anyone saying Jansen has not been a good tackle lately?? He has been as good as anyone. For us to have two probowl caliber bookend tackles is hard to find. Jansen should have made the probowl a year ago. dude played with two broken thumbs and a torn calf. didn't give up a holding penalty all year. Funny how in some threads the talk of the injury to Jansen was devistating, but then people seem to say he isnt' very good.
Record wise, we may be a couple of games better. its hard to say, we'll never know. |

I'm not denying anything Jansen has done for this team, and he was a great tackle for us for a while. Personally, I don't feel he's going to rebound from his injuries. He was getting worked all preseason and early in games. If you want to bring up "It's only preseason" I'll go ahead and bring up, if he can't beat his man 1v1, what will he do when twists and stunts start becoming involved in the game. If he comes back and plays at a high level, I'll be as happy as anyone. I just don't see it and I like Heyer, but if the coaching staff doesn't like him, our #1 should probably be going for a OT.

I would have to say 7 & 2 as well. The Packers game is a coin toss in my opinion.

Re: If We Had No Injuries What Would Our Record Be?
Sometimes it isn't too Matty. Maybe I'm off here, but I remember seeing Jansen get beat a lot early in the season. I hope he comes back full strength, he would be huge for this team.
Also, according to Cpayne he says he's pretty sure he had a holding penalty or two that season, but I have nothing to back that up. Anyone have a good stat. site?

I'm sure Jansen drew some holding penalties last year.
