Re: Gibbs Press Conference

You will be missed JG! What an emotional presser and it appeared it took everything in him to keep from crying. Snyder was very emotional as well. It seemed clear to me that Gibbs "want's to make sure this job gets finished" and will be around as much as Dan wants him around.

Re: Gibbs Press Conference

Did they say who is going to be the next coach? Or make any reference as to whether GW is in line to take over?

No and no. Snyder just kept saying, "We haven't even started that process (i.e., looking for a new head coach) yet."

Re: Gibbs Press Conference

Is the reason they might be saying they have to go thru the process is because the whole minority coaching thing?

I read that as, "We need to contact Bill Cowher's people." They could have strongly hinted that Grilliams will be the next head coach without violating the Rooney Rule, but they did not. They could have said, "We are strongly considering Grilliams for the job," but they didn't. JLC has reported that, last year, Danny soured on the idea of Grilliams becoming the head coach. Danny has historically landed big name coaches (Shotty, Spurrier, and Gibbs). That to me suggests that they are trying to get Cowher.

The Rooney Rule definitely affects what owners & GMs say, ever since the lions got fined a couple years back.

There are a few angles to the Danny's words though; he doesn't want to reveal anything until it's final. He's tried to run redskin park this way for years but was more successful w/Gibbs at the helm - few secrets were leaked.

Also, he may want to see if GW gets some offers elsewhere to determine his market value. If GW doesn't get any offers, the Danny will offer him less or give him incentives. Just a guess of course.

PLease, say no to Cowher!

I hope there isn't big changes. I would hate to have JC learn another offense again.

Re: Gibbs Press Conference

Thanks for the recaps--couldn't catch the presser. I'll try to watch it later on skins.com, though it's pretty depressing!

Thanks Coach Gibbs, for all you've done for the skins family!

Re: Gibbs Press Conference

After watching the press conference, I feel quite a bit better about Joe leaving. I guess I just needed to hear from him that he didn't think he could handle the physical demands of the job. I can't be too upset about that.

I also am glad he still wants to have a presence within the organization and wants to help them finish what they started. Even if it is only in a advisory capacity. I guess it gives me some sense of solice knowing that he's still looking out for us.

I think Joe Gibbs is an honest man. If he says he needs to retire because of family matters, I believe him. He's a very devout man to his family and to his faith. Certainly, I believe there was a higher calling for him to coach the Redskins this time around than just winning games. But, I also believe him when he says he is sticking around long enough to see the work finished. I think he'll do just that.

Re: Gibbs Press Conference

Ok, i just got to watch the whole presser on the official website and... IMO the Danny is still a douche.

When asked if he will go to the players directly for input going into the hunt for a new HC Snyder, w/o hesitation, said he already knows how the players feel about all the coaches and just about everything else. Right

I also believe I saw his eyes glimmer when the reporter asked directly about contacting Bill Cowher.

F!!!

People sure make a lot out of eye winks and glimmers lately. Snyder is a "douche" because of a glimmer, Arrington is returning because of a wink...

Snyder is a douche because Snyder is a douche. I've heard much worse said of him on this board many a time.

I don't know where the Lavar rumor is from. How old is that guy again?
