Only time will tell whether or not he's going to be a good HC. I'd would've rather had Fassel than Zorn. Hiring a HC w/out HC or OC experience is risk. Now we're about to hire a OC that's never even called plays? So we could potentially have a HC and an OC that's never called plays in the NFL?? Sigh...... Sorry but Fassel looks really good right about now.

Doesn’t do too much for the credibility of the rest of your article when you can’t get a basic fact like the guy’s coaching experience–a main basis for your criticism.
Pretty much sums it up right there.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??

REALLY!?! Worst hire of all time? What happened to Mike Smith and John Harbraugh? Personally I think those hires are worse then Zorn. Harbraugh was a special teams coordinator/DB coach and Mike Smith was a figurehead at D-Coordinator. Jim Zorn is a respected QB coach that turned Matt Hasselback into a pro-bowler and Charlie Batch into a respectable QB. The guy who wrote this article seems to have a personal vendeta against Zorn as well.

Oh yeah, and I can't blieve I forgot Lane Kiffin (thanks RFLPG). Thats my favorite. I remember reading a Raider fan making fun of us for hiring Zorn when his team hired a college Offensive coordinator that was younger then a good portion of his players. At least Spurrier was a head coach at the college level.

Have to admit, that while I'm glad overall about Zorn, the transition to the west coast O scares me & that's combined w/his transition to the team & as a head coach. There's a lot on his shoulders.

This team isn't that far from being really good, in fact I see us w/a handful of teams that if things go right are good enough to be in the super bowl. It makes me wonder if hiring the experienced guy would've been the right move to take a good team forward. But since we hired him, let's hope he's here a long time.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this thread title was "Lane Kiffin and Rich Kotite." Glad they were mentioned here. This guy is a moron of epic proportions. Anyone ever heard of Tim Kawakami? Exactly. He doesn't deserve any more of our time IMO. What a douche.

Andy Reid started out as a Quarterback coach and went straight to being a head coach with the Eagles; ditto with Mooch as well. There is more to being a coach than X's and O's. They have got to be a motivator and make the players respect and want to play for them. In my opinion I think Zorn has those qualities where as Fassel did not. Maybe he will be a bust, maybe he will be a great coach untili the the season starts no one knows.

I for one say give him a chance and lets see what he has.

Why do people say these things without knowing the facts? To make matters worse, this exact thing has been discussed in this very thread.
1- Andy Reid was qb coach and assistant head coach in GB before going to philly.
2- Mooch was the head coach for university of California before going to the NFL.
This is the 3rd or 4th time in the past 2 or 3 days I have had to correct these types of things.
I understand we all make mistakes, however, if you do not know something, please don't present it as fact.

What did it mean that Andy Reid was the assistant head coach beyond the title?

Well, he "assisted" in "head coach" duties. Stop focusing on how the SKins do things when it comes to titles and understand that other teams actually call it like they want it. Therefore Reid had a lot more experience since he assisted the head coach.
I suppose everyone should just ignore titles now?

But wait! You said Zorn has been nothing more than a QB coach which is also incorrect.

To be fair, I think jsarno in passing once mentioned that Zorn was OC at Utah State. He said it dismissively as if it counted for nothing, but he did say it
