What are you talking about? The OP asked some questions about players who could become available. What's with the "order you to discuss things" and "put off by the requirement that I discuss things" comments? I must be missing something.

Great, just great. First I have to explain to everyone when Dirtbag is being sarcastic.

Now I have to do the same for your posts? Sigh...

Sorry, oh great long suffering one. Your job is hard enough. I'll stop with the sarcasm and just go back to being simply brilliant - oops, there I go again.

If there are any teams that need or want to release players because they feel they acquired a better one in the draft, or they need to get rid of them to create cap space for the rookies, we will see it happen sometime in May, teams don't have to wait until June 1st anymore.

James Thrash should be cut along with Daniels and Todd Wade and ARE

??????? I can see Thrash getting cut because he is old and there is a major logjam at wr, but why would we cut ARE? We have no depth at DE so why would we cut Daniels? Todd Wade has a very reasonable contract for a veteran lineman who can still play so I don't get that one either?

Please learn about the salary cap and signing bonuses and release fees before you make these types of commnets. There is no way ARE is released or traded before 2010.

Daniels has years of experience in this defense and with our D-Coordinator. He is solid and we have no one else with his skill-set. It would be insanely stupid to cut or release him.

Wade, possibly but doubtful. He's a versatile veteran that is not a major cap hit. Thrash, probably.

I hope the Skins keep Thrash, he's a fairly solid player and what I consider to be a team guy and a "True Redskin". Solid, hard playing, and a good guy.

Did anyone notice ESPN's list of team losses and additions? I had to chuckle when Brandon Llyod was listed as a key loss.

Daniels should get cut cuz he has not ever produced a great game for us as a redskin They should pick up Dixon from Hampton im sure he will be able to get more sacks then Daniels had as a redskin. Randle EL has not done anything that special for us his punt returns are horrible he played alot better when he played for the steelers I think all he saw was the money

He had a four sack game against the Cowboys. He isn't a great player, but he is a very solid player.

Well, those were against Drew Bledsoe, that's not saying much.

He was productive up until last season. I think his future on this team is inside with Golston, Montgomery, and Griffin.

I feel he's going to retire at seasons end, but as the 3rd DT and DE, he can still help this team.

while daniels is not the most gifted player around he holds his space on the D line (not getting pushed back or manhandled too much) and i consider him one of the locker room leaders from reading the WP articles over the past few years were he seems to be one of the few who speak up when some things need to be said. we dont have many vocal locker room leaders, fletcher is a quite dude (new to the team so you dont say much early) but i remember reading how he spoke up during halftime last year and everybody listened, the players after the game said thats what they needed.

if daniels tried an outside rush move like carter does everytime we would be screwed.

QUESTION: am i right or wrong for thinking that teams ran to carter's side more b/c they knew he would most likely try and go outside of the tackle opening up a running lane?

You are right, pretty much, but you should also note that teams were largely unsuccessful when they ran at Carter last year (but not in 2006, back in the highway 99 days).

Where teams gashed us last year in the run was between the tackles. The difference was London Fletcher, not Carter (although Carter deserves a bit of credit). When teams run outside, it's nearly impossible to block Fletch with an interior player. He's too quick. Some teams got slot receivers on him, but largely, it was a futile excercise to run outside on the Redskins last year.

Where teams were incredibly successful was in heading up the gut. You can get your fullback on LF if you go right at him, and then Rocky--often the unblocked man, did not have the play recognition skills to close the gap.

Rocky should improve in that aspect this year...but Fletcher is going to start losing his quickness now, and it's not going to take very long until he's a step slow at MLB instead of a step fast. That is a good reason that it is critical that Daniels gets replaced by a player who is even better against the run than he is.
