since this is a Skins site, what are yall's thoughts on how this impacts the Skins & nfc?
On one hand I think the packers can't repeat their 07 year w/Farve or not. On the other, if they kept him they might find a way to beat dallas in the playoffs. It would cap his career to finally win at texas stadium.

If he goes to tampa I don't see that making too big a difference for them. I still think they're a 10-6 team or so at best. I don't know that you can really say Farve would be an upgrade over Garcia when you consider that Farve has to come in and learn the system. Mabye by mid october he'd be in synch w/the O, but I could just as easily see him throwing a bunch of picks & tampa going 7-9 or something close.
I think it actually weakens 2 NFC teams.. The Pack have the potential to become a mess if Rodgers struggles and the Favre backers in the locker room start raising questions.. I agree it's going to take a while for him to acclimate to TB.. Tampa was a good team in a bad division last year and didn't do much IMO to improve this year.. All of their best players (Brooks, Barber, Garcia, Galloway) are way on the wrong side of 30.. If they win 9 games it's a success IMO.

This is not good for Brett. He's not good at learning new systems (don't have time to find the link, but Schneed proved it a while back), and he is already behind the 8 ball since he'll have a whopping 3 weeks to get ready for the season opener. I don't see how he will be effective in Tampa. He should have made up his mind that he has two options, 1- play for Green Bay, 2- stay retired. If he's traded to Tampa, he WILL tarnish his legacy.

In the short term perhaps, but in the long run I don't think it will have a damaging impact on his legacy.

This tarnished legacy crap is so overblown.

Does anyone care now that Jordan played for the Wizards?

Tell you one that I've REALLY TRIED TO FORGET: Monk w/the Jets & Eagles! Surely, there wasn't a Jets/Iggles contingency in canton last week.

Also, G Clark w/the cards & fins, R. Sanders w/atl, and Mann in SF.
Years from now, will anybody talk about Lavar w/the g-men? Probably not, cause he wasn't as big a star as Farve, but the situations are similar.

Remember Dorsett w/the Broncos? Earl Campbell & Ken Stabler w/the saints?

Re: Tampa Tribune Reports Favre Could Be Traded To Bucs Soon

I can definitely see your points, and you could be right. However, none of those players had the fued with their team like Favre with the Packers.

I think Brett will have a horrible season in Tampa (if he's traded). Lucky to get 3300 yards, and will have similar td to int ratio. The only way to save it is to have a great season in Tampa (close to 4000 yards, and a much better td to int ratio) That way people will blame Green Bay about this cause Favre OBVIOUSLY still had it. I just don't see him having a great season.

ps- Smith certainly tarnished his legacy in my eyes. I now see him as one of the most overrated RBs in history. He said, before signing with Arizona, and shortly after signing with Arizona, that he felt rejuvenated, and that he felt better than he had in years. Also implied we should see a huge season from him. He went out and had 256 yards in 10 games, and a meezly 2.8 YPC. Granted injuries were a factor. The following year he played in 15 games and still couldn't muster 1000 yards, and had a horrible 3.5 YPC. Emmitt Smith should thank his lucky stars he played for one of the best O lines in history. Sure he was a good RB, but no way the best.
