Wise's Article on Vinny

I really like this article. It's interesting that Vinny takes responsibility for flukes such as Arch and Lloyd.

Re: Wise's Article on Vinny

I noticed that too. I figure he was taking one for the team though.

It was an interesting read. The last 2 years have been different but it remains to be seen if the danny will take this approach when they have the cap space to spend. They've done so well w/the draft that it's a shame valuable picks were traded away for the likes of loyd & tj duckett.

I don't see what's so surprising about it

Well it's just that before there was a sense that the Danny and Gibbs ran things, and while Vinny had a say in these signings, I think Snyder and Gibbs were criticized more.

Re: Wise's Article on Vinny

I figured they all had their part in it and all carried equal blame, considering it was never really explained who had what responsibilities. As such he took some blame for it, but he didnt explicitly say it was his move and not to blame the others.

Re: Wise's Article on Vinny

I thought it was a pretty good article, its got to be nice to ask Vinny some of those questions. I hope his most recent success doesn’t go to his head though.

Oddly enough JLC was on Big Al's radio show this morning (I think just a Richmond show) and he definitely praised Vinny and the most recent draft and said how he thinks it may even possible for all 10 draft picks to make the team. Most likely not but a fair chance 8make the team - which is pretty damn good considering how many late rounders we have.

I like how the article said VInny has a board behind him that includes every player in the NFL and their current status. Thats would be awesome to have in my living room.

Re: Wise's Article on Vinny

I think Gibbs/Williams had a large say in signings. Find it weird that as soon as they leave we have a completely new strategy to building a team (IE accumulating picks).

He should take more ,I beleive he made other mistakes.Thing is anyone else in his position would have been fired for those screw ups.

Re: Wise's Article on Vinny

Vinny and the redskins are trying to give the illusion that he had more control than he did, which in turn justifies the promotion. I was a huge critic but the last 2 years have been promising. Hopefully his legacy will be the hiring of Zorn and the start of many competitive years to come.

The man is involved in all decisions...that doesnt mean it's his deal and his deal only when it goes bad or goes good.

For the last year and a half Gibbs was saying that the plan was to keep most, if not all, the draft picks in the immediate future. Plus, not exactly sure what you mean by accumulating picks. Are you talking about all the compensatory picks we got in addition to our regular roster of picks? Because getting those picks was largely the result of the front office (Gibbs and Snyder included) making decisions such as not to keep Dockery.

But to your first line, I just find it interesting that others find it interesting he's taking responsiblity for Arch and Lloyd, yet no one is finding it interesting that he apparently is taking responsibility for Fletcher and Springs.

Re: Wise's Article on Vinny

SS -- I meant more the trade down approach. Did we trade down once during Gibbs tenure? I know we moved up twice (granted that was for Campbell and Cooley, so both great moves. I feel like everyone was involved in the decision process.
