Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

Warner could hurt us if he has time. With that said, I don't think he'll have much time at all with Taylor and Carter. I keep hearing how "improved" the Cards D is this year. My reaction to that is 1.) look at who they've played so far and 2.) of course their D is improved. They haven't exactly been a powerhouse over the last say...80+ years (or however old they are). ANYTHING is an improvement!

My prediction? PAIN! (Clubber Lang, Rocky III).

Skins 31
Cards 21

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

portis is averaging 90 yards a game and at least a TD a game. Jason Campbell is only behind Eli Manning i nthe NFC east for qbs in 4th quarter and that is saying alot, becaue thats where we lost a few crucial games in the 4th that Campbell could have won us.. He will win those games this year.. We need to get our new young WR's healthy so they are able to help us in the redzone. Malcolm Kelly is going to be a tremendous target for us in the redzone. There's no excuse why they arent on the field more than they are.. I realize alot of 1st year WR's dont show up their first year but if little ass desean jackson can get two conesutive 100 yard games, I know our rookies can do something to help us out. Zorn is just going to have to trust them.. When Zorn put him and Devin thomas out on the field in a package, they got a 1st down, and Zorn never went back to that formation again.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

Reality check:

We are 3 point favorites at home. Traditionally home field advantage is 3 points so the oddsmakers expect this to be a pick 'em.

Kurt Warner is one of the most accurate passers of all time (a 7-time offensive player of the week including last week and 2-time MVP). Fitzgerald and Boldin are two of the best wr's in the league right now (both have scored from over 75 yards). Not to mention they also have very inventive playcalling and a good O-Line.They have a young but very talented defense (Alan Branch, Calais Campbell who I still wish we would have drafted, Karlos Dansby, Bertrand Berry, Travis LaBoy, Darnell Dockett, etc..) They took huge strides last year and they will probably win the West this season (for what that's worth, it's a pretty week division).
This is not the Cardinals of old and they will not be an easy win. I think the Skins will win but not by much. This is one of those weeks we need a Gibbs speech about how "this is a tough opponent and we need to really play our guts out."
BTW, did anybody else notice that not only are Russ Grimm and Ken Wisenhut on the Cards staff, but their QB coach is Jeff Rutledge?

HUH???? IF the oddsmakers expected this to be a PICK' em, they would have put the odds at ....... PICK' EM

Are you saying that every home favorite that is at less then 3pts is the underdog???? I must have missed the new math lesson that day.

Further, I believe Fedex to be a better than average home field, so from now on, I guess if we are favored by 5 at home, it is really a pick' em game. and in the playoff home games, when the stadium is rocking, we must be underdogs if we aren't favored by 10.

It's pretty well-known that when the oddsmakers are setting the odds for each game, one of the things they automatically do is give the home team -3 off the bat for the home field advantage. -3 isn't necessarily a PICK EM game, but what it means is that besides the home field, the oddsmakers are looking at this game as very even keeled game. No distinct advantage for either team, besides the home field.

I might add that the odds makers make a line to ensure maximum betting action not on who they believe will win. The line could actually change right up until kickoff if they believe it could draw more betting action. Last week I think the odds were at Pick 'em until gameday when it went to skins -1. They did this only for betting purposes, not because they thought the Skins were less likely to win.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

I really don't know how this game is going to go. What I want is for the Skins to ride on that last bomb to Moss and keep that going right into this game, but I have a feeling we might be back to the hell rollercoaster ride we all call "A Skins Game"…. get your zoloft ready.

Redskins --- 465
Cards ------ 17

The 17 points for the cards comes in garbage time.

A very simple concept. I hate the fact that I have to sit here and defend my thoughts and decisions merely because I'm not being a homer. The Cardinals are not as bad as some would like to think, and I also think the Redskins aren't as good as some would like to think. My heart wants to say that the Skins will roll on all cylinders, and that they'll stomp a big old mudhole in the Cards. But my head knows that the Cards are a good football team, and there are several factors they have in their favor.

I'd also like to point out that I did pick the Redskins to win...see Post #16...something I haven't done the last 2 weeks.

If I'm wrong, so be it...but I'm going to be honest before I'm a homer, plain and simple. So call me what you want, but I've bled burgundy and gold for almost 30 years of my existence, have been through the ups and downs, and will continue to do so for the next 30, 40, 50+ years. But I'm not going to be dishonest with myself either.
